I rarely write negative reviews but unfortunately the experience with the stay has forced to write one. I will start with the positive - beautifully-crafted rustic interiors and exteriors; the decorations and photos of the home was what attracted me first and I will say that everything was absolutely beautiful. There are 3 bathrooms outside (so the whole house can share) which worked out to be great so you don't need to have a wet bathroom in your room and it's quite a large shower space area. I will now go into the major concerns of the home - the host does not live in Sapa and she manages the property from away. It's just a non-English-speaking housekeeper that lives in a house next to this home (therefore if you have problems during off hours, you won't be able to contact the housekeeper as it will be dark and you will not be able to find them in the adjacent house which you have to walk down an alley). I had messaged Hien 2 days prior to check in (continuously) and she did not respond to my messages at all. I found the home by myself (it wasn't easy) and the housekeeper was not really aware that I was coming. There were bugs and cockroaches in the upstairs room. I had bug bites in rashes across my neck and even when I requested to talk on the phone with Hien (her contact information on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) or Airbnb are vacant numbers), she did not offer to. I only had Airbnb message as the only way to reach her and the host was late to replying the message (by a day) and I only stayed there for two nights. The host did offer her Sorry but it didn't really help. Language barrier was a huge issue. They also had dogs in the place and they frequently bark in the late night (if someone entered the property or a neighbour came home) and I would be woken up many times during the evening. There was zero interaction with the host because she was not present. If you are looking for an authentic interaction experience with the locals, I 'm unsure if this is the most optimal place. However, if you are a very independent traveller (just need a space to sleep/chill and have many little needs - that was me, before I had bug bites all over my body and needed help but was offered none), then the interiors of the place may be beautiful enough for you to have a stay and enjoy. I would like to emphasise that compared to the other, numerous, homestays in town where they have an English-speaking host that will cater to you fully, this ranked much lowered compared to service and the local experience. It is unfortunate that it had to result like this but I highly suggest the host to hire an English-speaking staff as well as to clean up the property especially on the...
