Our place is close to restaurants both on and off the beach as well as loads of little well stocked shops. The beach is right out the front and you have access to 4km of clean white sand! The chiringuitos are some of the best in Spain offering fresh local fish and a drink at sunset is superb (summer months/check opening). Zahara is a short drive or walk (20 mins) on one of the most unspoilt areas in Spain. Refresh yourself during the day in the cool water of the large communal pool.
There are 3 floors. The basement has two single beds which pull out to make doubles and they join so become one massive bed. The beds have drawers underneath them to store away clothes. In this room there are big fatboy beanbags and a large television with a play station. On the middle floor is an open plan space with the living room, kitchen, toilet, dining area, a small laundry and a terrace at the front and a courtyard at the back. The terrace has comfortable tables and chairs, a console and an extended sofa. The living room has a 3 seat sofa and two funky rope chairs by Kave Home (which I put outside during the summer and put the dining table in the garden below). The Coral light fittings are by the famous New Zealand designer David trubridge. Upstairs are three bedrooms all with double wardrobes and two bathrooms. The main bedroom has a queen sized bed and Kettal lamps. The terrace has been extened so there are beach views and there are two lounges, and there is an ensuite bathroom with two basins, a shower, toilet and bidet. The middle bedoom is the smallest and the single bed pulls out to a double. The third bedrrom also has a queen sized bed and is decorated in blue and white. All linen is 100% Egyptian cotton. The towels are from the USA. The kitchen has all appliances from a toaster, blender, ice maker, microwave and coffee machine. We have large wine glasses, superb beach wine glasses and plastic tumblers. There are funky melamine plates and also enough plates for 10 or more people. The middle bathroom upstairs and toilet downstairs have recently been remodelled in white rustic subway tiles, modern basins, heated towel rails and grey tones. The bath has been replaced with a shower. Beach towels are available but we recommend guests take their own. We have also purchased more seating in the living area (which we place on the terrace during the summer), between the dining room and living area, as well as new bedside lamps in the blue room, a massive outside umbrella for the garden and other little things to add to your stay.
Surf boards and surf lessons;
Please feel free to use the surf boards. It can be very dangerous to surf here so we recommend you check out the surf school. It is to the left when you get to the the beach towards the Melia. The tides vary and so do their opening hours. They speak a little English.
There are 7 cards and they need to be shown to the lifeguards when you arrive. Remember to get them back at the end of each swim. Each one costs 30 euros and the gardener is very reluctant to issue new ones! Should you lose one during your stay you will be asked to purchase one at 30 euros each. We always keep them in the top right drawer of the white console.

The Melia hotel, a 5 minute walk from here offers tennis lessons and you can book a court for a fee. Check out their website for more details
There is a paddle court in the urbanization. You may book a lesson for the following day (you need to go down to the gardeners office each day). He is located in a small office in the urbanization at the top end of the pool and the building closest to the Melia. This year we don’t have racquets but we have been playing with bats and it is ok! We suggest you bring your own.

The Melia has a spa and they do an amazing job at eyebrow and eye lash tinting as well as eye lash perming! I think each costs around $15.

You can use the gym and indoor pool, as well as all other facilities at the Melia for $12 a day. Even better still, you can join for $70 for a whole month.

In July, September and August the pool is open from 11am until 9pm. The house is in a safe enclosed urbanisation and is first inline to the beach. There is a small walk way which you can use to access the beach, bars, cafes and the local surf club. Please be aware if you book outside the peak summer months the pool will not be open, however the beach is right infront of the urbanisation.

It can be windy during the summer months so it is good to have back up plans for the day. On these days, I suggest visiting some of the white villages, Seville or try out one of the many restaurants in the town. There are some very cute shops too.
We would appreciate if you wouldn’t mind watering the
garden pots/planters during your stay.
:you to put the umbrella down overnight or if winds are predicted. Unfortunately we don’t have lights down in the garden below and use candles.
Manuel: ph(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) and Ana phone: (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). They are a very good butcher about a 10 minute walk away towards town. They are closed from 3 til 6pm. They sell a small selection of wine too.

Zahara : Dia

Local: There is a good little supermarket to the left of the urbanization about a 7 minute walk away. They now sell fresh milk and hummus. If they don’t have something you want ask them to get it in for you.
To town is about 8 euros. Phone: (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)
We appreciate if you are using the oven to cook meat to do so in a cooking oven bag or seal the meat with aluminum foil to avoid fat spitting. Please use the wooden chopping board for hot pans- never rest hot pans on the bench top. Many thanks!

I am a New Zealander but lived in Europe for 10 years with my husband and three children; 6 years in Basel, Switzerland and 4 in Madrid. We fell in love with Zahara de los Atunes, a little fishing village in Adalucia and once we moved to San Francisco decided to buy there to keep our ties with Spain. We love the sea, sun and culture and know what it is like to travel with children and the need for maximum comfort, space and all the essential non essential items. We recently bought our house in Christchurch for the purposes of Air BnB and one day hope to spend half our time in New Zealand and half in Spain!
