Sarah provided clear and prompt communications prior to arrival. We were greeted by her sister, and then later by Sarah, herself, both of them are very nice. The place is modern, which we loved, but was missing a bit warmth and character and personal touches. As it turns out, it is one of a dozen places that Sarah and her family offer on AirBB, solely as AirBB rentals. Nobody lives there otherwise. It is in a fairly safe area of Lissabon. You have to cross a loud 3-lane road and open marketplace to walk to Alfama. We've learned from other locals that the area was problematic just a short while back, and you can still end up on a side street that would not feel safe at night to some people, especially women. That said, we didn't have one bad encounter in our 5 days in Lissabon. The place feels newly renovated, but the renovations were done a bit on the cheap side. The handle of the hot water faucet has punctured and damaged the wall behind it, and a few other fixtures and edges seemed in need of care. There was also a significant mold ring around the bath tub, which is really so unnecessary, even given the humidity in Lisbon. All these little problems should be easy to fix, but as a strict rental property, the place was missing the love one would perhaps encounter in a private home. If you want a functional and safe place and don't mind a corporate apartment feel, then this would still be worth the money.
