Burntisland, Escocia, Reino Unido

Burntisland a coastal town and former Royal Burgh situated on the Firth of Forth in Fife. It has many historical attractions and owes it existence to an impressive natural harbour.
It has a beautiful sandy ‘Blue Flag’ beach. A landmark on the fife coastline is The Binn hill, part of an old volcano it rises 193m above sea level to the north of Burntisland. From the top there are panoramic views across the Forth to Inchkeith Island and Edinburgh and the three bridges. Rock carvings found on Binn Hill are thought to date back 4000 years. Overlooking the harbour, sited on a cliff stands Rossend Castle built during the 15th century it was originally residence for the Abbots of Dunfermline. St. Columba’s Church, c1592, now the Parish Church is the oldest post-reformation kirk still in regular use. It is historically and architecturally magnificent and listed as one of the ten most historical churches in Scotland. Burntisland Golf Club is the eleventh oldest in the World. Annual summer events include the Highland Games (2nd oldest in the world) and the Civic Week Parade.
Burntisland is a superb base for exploring Edinburgh and central Scotland having excellent rail and road links.
Filming of the popular Outlander series took place in several of the nearby town and villages of Aberdour, Dysart, Falkland and Culross. Also at the Boness and Kinneil Railway.
