This self-catering converted barn is set in the hills above the Wye Valley, close to St Arvans and Tintern. The property is one of four adjoining barns located in a very private area on a working organic farm. There are three double bedrooms (one with an ensuite), a large family bathroom, separate downstairs toilet, a large kitchen and cosy living room. The property is perfect for escapism - with plenty to see and do from the front door - combined with a feeling of being off-the-grid!
The barn is our second home (we live & work in London) and we absolutely love the place, so we ask that you treat it like your own. It's a fantastic retreat from busy life, and a hidden sanctuary to connect with nature. If you want to stay in, there are plenty of board games, books, record player, etc, and a well-equipped kitchen for cooking. Or if you're feeling more active, there are more than 10 walks from the front door, and many more throughout the Wye Valley and Monmouthshire. Cycling is also recommended, particularly in the nearby Fedw Wood.
Situated on a working farm, you will see cattle and sheep in the fields around you, hear the cockerel in the morning, and find the sheep dogs occasionally looking for a stroke.
Beware: there is Wifi, but it is not very reliable - often slow, and occasionally drops out completely - so please do not count on it during your stay. If broadband is very important to you, then our property probably isn't suitable!
Also, as this is our part-time home, some of our personal belongings will be in the barn. All of our things are kept out of your way so it shouldn't be a problem for anyone, but please bear this in mind when booking.
Disponible para huéspedes
You will have the entire barn to yourself. There is parking for at least four cars. The key will be securely left and instructions will be provided for accessing the barn.
The farm has several official footpaths across it which are well-marked, we ask that you stick to these. It is a working farm, so please be aware of obvious dangers - do not wander into sheds, aggravate animals, and look out for tractors!
Atención a los huéspedes
You can be as private or interactive as you like. We are always able to take calls or reply to texts while you're staying. In the barn you will find a useful collection of recommended things to do in the area and a map of the local area.
Otros aspectos destacables
Penterry is the closest hamlet. It is a quiet, rural scattering of homes in the hills above the Wye Valley. Tintern lies at the foot of the valley about a mile or so walk from the barn. It is easier to drive from the village of St Arvans, which is about 10 minutes in the car. Local attractions include Chepstow Racecourse, Tintern Abbey, The Big Pit (Coal Mining Pit & Museum) and the River Wye itself for canoeing etc.
Please be aware that the barn is adjoined to other homes. We ask that you are considerate of our neighbours and do not make noise late at night.
We are not interested in letting the barn out long term, please don't ask.
