(This listing is for an individual or couple only-one bed only). Stay in the original farmhouse on our family farm which was once a working apple orchard. The farmhouse is in a gorgeous Sebastopol rural neighborhood surrounded by farms and vineyards, yet ten minutes to downtown Sebastopol.
See detailed description. You’ll love my place because of the quiet privacy (you will be the only guest(s) staying there) .
Enjoy staying in the original farmhouse on our property which was once an operating apple orchard. It has the old Sonoma county charm but is newly remodeled for ease of living. This house is rented out to groups on weekends but is available Mon-Thur for individuals or couples. The beauty is you will have the whole place to yourself(ves)! We charge less because you will only be using one bedroom. We only charge a $20 cleaning fee. In return we ask you clean your dishes, only use as many bath towels as you need, that sort of thing. That way we can offer an affordable mid-week stay in a great place. The bedroom available for your use has a very luxurious queen size bed, desk and armoire for your clothers. The newly remodeled kitchen has everything you need to cook. There is a big family room with comfy couches, a flat screen smart tv, games, puzzles, etc., a table for dining or playing cards. There is a newly landscaped backyard which is fenced in and completely private. It has a decomposed granite dining area, a fountain, table with seating and umbrella, and bbq. There is also a small veggie-flower garden for the guests use. The house itself is set back from the country road with a large tree filled front yard. From the private backyard enclosed by a beautiful redwood grove on one side, you can get a glimpse of our horses meandering by. Our family home is at the far other end of the property.
Our property is located in the Twin Hills area of Sebastopol. This desirable area is known for its rolling hills, apple orchards, Christmas Tree Farms, and vineyards. There are many beautiful walks to take right out the door. While you may feel far away from it all, downtown is less than a ten minute drive, and door to door we are twenty minutes to the beaches and gorgeous coast line of Bodega Bay.
There are three main wine tasting routes nearby. For chardonnays and pinot noirs you can stay right in our appellation, the Russian River Valley, and Olivet Road to River Rd. Healdsburg is Dry Creek and Alexander Valley for merlots, zinfandels and cabernet sauvignon. All of these and more are nearby. Right in Sebastopol there is Iron Horse Vineyards, Lynmar, Balletto, Russian River Vineyards, Dutton Family Wines and many more.
You will need a car to get around as there is no public transportation in our rural neighborhood.
There is such a variety of things to do in our area. Sebastopol is famous for its award winning wineries, restaurants and antique shops. It also has an artsy bohemian feel, and many are dedicated to the slow food movement. Neighbors regularly trade their bounties with each other, such as milk, honey, eggs and veggies. There is also the beaches and cliffs of Bodega Bay (we provide beach chairs, towels, etc.), and great swimming and picnicking at the Russian River. You can hike through beautiful redwoods at Armstrong Woods. And of course visit countless wineries and gourmet restaurants. We can fill you in on our favorite s. We do not allow pets in our vacation rental as this ensures the place stays clean and allergen-free.

Hi, I'm Mary, was born and raised outside of Boston, then spent ten years in San Francisco where I went to law school and became a human rights lawyer. I then spent ten years in Marin. I moved to my farm in Sebastopol in 2004 because I wanted to live and raise my children in the country, with lots of space around us. I picked Sebastopol specifically for its open attitude, great schools, rural charm and it's proximity to the beach and Russian River. When I brought my children, then toddlers, to see the place it was in August and the trees were dripping with apples. The kids ate several each, and the next morning my two-year old said, "Mommy, I want to go back to the apple house." And the rest was history. We still call it the Apple House, and are really happy here, eating from the trees and garden, riding our horses through the orchards, sharing meals with friends. We love the cottage and hope you will too.
We love the diversity the Bay Area offers and we appreciate hosting nice people from all walks of life!
