Every SEASONAL change presents a different looking environment and activities on the farm.
During September we are in our SPRING/BLOSSOM time, at which time it is vitally important for us to protect our forthcoming fruit crop from dampness and brown rot. When the weather is fine enough for spraying we need to apply a fungicide to the blossom and setting fruit to protect it at any opportunity. We hope you understand that this may mean from 7am, weather permitting until dusk or even later, if that is when the weather allows us to do so. We hope you understand that this MIGHT be the case during your stay. Weather presents us with our biggest challenges.
SUMMER (mainly END of November/December/till early-mid January) - We have a FULLY operating packing shed, which is located adjacent to Cherry Orchard Cabin. (We also have backpackers living on our farm during this time). This would mean our backpackers rising early morning, anywhere between 6am-7am to prepare for the harvest day.
Other noises would include - bird scaring gas guns and sonic squealing devices emitting various distress calls and harassment sounds to scare birds from our crop. There are also at times, fully licensed professional shooters to help keep birds and vermin out of our cherry crop. Again this is a necessary part of being a fully functioning commercial cherry orchard.
The backpackers kitchen is also part of the packing shed, so there may be noise until late evening, depending on workload on that day and the next. (Backpackers are only on our farm from mid-late November till mid January).
You are welcome to share in this busy experience with us, or just observe from a distance. We are always willing to share and explain the various processes that are going on, with you, as we are out there in the packing shed and the orchard with our backpackers/workers sharing and experiencing what we have done for the best part of 40 years now.
During AUTUMN is probably the most satisfying and settled times of the year in the Yarra Valley. It is when the weather is at its best, being not too hot and not too cold! During this time we are harvesting our FIGS (which we do ourselves) until late May/early June. It is a time when again the farm begins to change from bright green colours to the fluroesent reds and yellows. It is a beautiful time of the year, as the whole Valley displays and changes the same way.
During WINTER is the quietest time on the farm. This is when the only activities going on are pruning, grafting and the very occasional slashing and spraying of the trees. Again, this spraying is only the equivalent of our penicillin to protect the trees from the cold and rain of winter.
It would be the perfect stay for couples, wedding party preparations, adventurers and even business travellers alike. Our farm has already been used several times for wedding photos and photo shoots, as well as being a key location for Chanel seven (7) in the 1980's for the 'SUTHERLANDS' TV series.

Otros aspectos destacables
We are a FULLY OPERATIONAL CHERRY AND FIG ORCHARD so there will be farming activities that need to be attended to at various times.
Late Spring and Summer is our busiest time. During the months of November to mid January we are HARVESTING - This requires us to have 20-30 backpackers staying on our farm day and night to help with the harvesting. Therefore the associated noises that come with them living here in proximity to the 'CHERRY ORCHARD CABIN'.......We also use various harassing devices as well as qualified professional shooters to protect our crop. The NOISE associated with these activities may begin at day break and again go until dusk as required. If you feel this is going to impact your expectations, then we suggest coming to stay with us before or after this HARVEST period.
If you are booking for 2 people but are going to be using both beds please advise us, or put the booking under 3 people as there will be an extra cost of $50 per/night and this will ensure that linen will be provided for the second 2nd bed.

Children must be supervised by an adult at ALL times. They may not roam the farm alone. They must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. We are a fully operational farm and there is motorised machinery left unattended when not in use which can pose a danger if a young child climbs on it unattended. If and when we are not busy on the farm, we would be more than happy to show you around and answer any questions you may have....... Thanking you.
In life I have learnt that my husband and family will always come first. To keep life simple and stress less about the small stuff, and enjoy the beauty of nature and what it has to offer us every single day....I am a fit and healthy, active, energetic person. Enjoy cooking and baking, spending time with my friends and family and enjoy meeting new people. I am not a big traveller, but love having the opportunity to have the world come to us to share what we love most, which is our home and surroundings.
