Thanks for taking time to point out that we are logistically 5 miles outside of Waikiki proper. It takes me 8 min. to drive down to Kai'mana beach from the house, as well as, Diamond Head lookout, Black Point beach, the Aquarium and Zoo. It's also about 5 min. and 3 miles to Diamond Head national park where many visitors go to hike daily.
What is even more amazing is that we have a 2 min. access to the H-1 freeway West to Pearl Harbor, North Shore and Kailua, or East to Hanauma Bay, Ka'iwi shoreline and Sandy Beach. In comparison, people in Waikiki can wait in traffic along Kapahulu Ave. for 15 min. just to get to the H-1 West on ramp In other words, we are setting up shop at Sandy beach by the time someone in Waikiki is finally getting on Kalanianaole Hwy. to start the journey there. It's just a matter of preference. Everyone wants to see Time Square once, then like Waikiki it can be overwhelming.
Our home is quaint, quiet, but not extravagant. We are in an dynamic neighborhood that many visitors long for and locals flock to daily. We like to offer a "local experience," something like staying in the E. Village versus Time Square. We don't have a pool to lounge by, or a fitness center, but there is a nice "local vibe" if you walk a few blocks and enjoy some of the bars, restaurants and shops where Hawaiians hang out. You won't find that in Waikiki and we do hope you enjoyed your stay overall. Aloha.
