I ended up staying in this apartment for the value; I booked it the night before and the rate had dropped quite low and I quickly need a place in Nakano to stay for two nights.
PROS: 1) a easy 10 min walk to the station, just walk straight up Nakano Ave from the station, couldn't be easier 2) A Family Mart convenience store on 1st flr of building, perfect for tourists 3) Ceiling heater works very well, heats up room fast which was great cause it was cold 4) Photos are accurate 5) Hot water works well, you can have a nice hot shower. 6) beds are comfortable and comforter was warm, not problem getting a good night rest. 7) Communication with Masaru was very good, he was very flexible with the checking in and out, so it made it very easy for me.
CONS 1) I suspect this use to be an office space before; regardless the moment you open the door you can smell that old smoke smell. It is clear that there use to be a lot of smoking in the past in the room. You stop smelling it after a while, but FYI 2) no personality, not homey at all. The "curtains" are thin sheets literally thumbtacked to the wall so they don't block much light in the morning. 3) bright fluorescent office lights used 4) At night, the light from the hall way comes right through the windows facing the hallway, not very pleasant for those who like it dark, like myself. 5) The building is part business/ part residential, but feels much more business. The entry and staircase is stark and not clean; I thought I was in the wrong building at first.
CONCLUSION: For a party of 3-4 people who are just looking for a place to literally sleep while being out all day, and don't care about homely-ness, it's a great deal and location. Wouldn't recommend more people than that, cause sleeping with two people per bed would be very tight, it's like a small Full size bad.
