Set in the Loire valley near to the Anjou wine capital of Saumur. This lovely restored 14th century farmhouse is ideal for exploring the region with it's chateaux, vineyards and forests that follow the river Loire as it heads towards the sea. Set in 8 hectares with more than a kilometer of river at it's foot La Mustrie has been restored to a high standard.
The house is on 2 levels which can be separated and rented individually if so desired.
There are 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms..5 of which are en suite.
There is a big fully equiped country kitchen with a wood burning stove and doors to both the front and rear terraces.
There is a big comfortable salon with sofas and TV .
The house is set around a courtyard which is part garden and leads to the pool area.
The pool is 13.5m x 4m and the relaxation area backs onto a 4 acre park with big mature trees,flower beds and a petanque court.
There is a meandering path from here that leads down to the river Authion where it is possible to fish.
My wife Regine, who breeds horses, has a number of prados at the property and keeps several horses there.

Situated on the banks of the River Authion La Mustrie is just 5 minutes drive from the centre of the small town of St Martin de la Place.. an extra 20 seconds and you are at the famous river Loire.
St Martin has an excellent bakers a maison de la press,a pharmacy and 3 very good restaurants two of which are also bars and one is right on the banks of the Loire itself.
It is possible to hire kyaks and canoes in the village as well as paddleboards...and there are routes to follow on the Loire..either accompanied or solo. It is also possible to hire bicycles and this part of the Loire valley is extremely cyclist friendly with mapped and signposted routes everywhere.
5 minutes in the other direction is the larger town of Longue-Jumelles. The town centre has banks restaurants and bars and shops selling local produce. Just out of town there is a big Super U supermarket
with everything you can imagine that gives France it's own particular flavour.
Close by there is also a branch of the ever popular Netto which unusually for France is open on a Sunday morning until mid day.
!5 minutes in the car will take you into Saumur with its fabulous chateau dominating the river.
The cobbled streets are home to both modern and traditional shops, bars and restaurants.
Famous as the wine capital of Anjou Saumur is home to the many excellent cremant producers that run the legnth of the river either side of the main town...certainly worth a visit and tastings happen daily.
At dawn, close by, hot air balloons..known as Montgolphiers...make their ascent into the skies above the river... booking is essential for these popular flights of fancy.
There is also a huge market every Saturday selling local produce that takes over the heart of the oldest part of town.
Down river..about 40 minutes by (URL HIDDEN) the city of Angers. Home to the Dukes of Anjou and the Angevine
kings of England. A massive fortress overlooks the river and protects the heart of the city.
A wonderful blend of really old and really new runs through out and the streets abound with restaurants cafes,bars and galleries...plus the most fashionable shops as well as regional.
Trams were re-introduced a few years back and it is possible to tour the city in one although walking allows you to see far more..the river side opposite the fortress is home to floating bars and restaurants and the atmosphere is as laid back as you would expect from a small town.
The whole region abounds with incredible Chateaux,and gardens and there are museums of every kind..even one dedicated to mushrooms!
There are vineyards ,of course,everywhere,and tastings ,and you are expected to try before you buy..so don't be shy !!
There are events of some kind every week-end plus organised walks..randonees..and tours.
In the autumn it is possible to take a mushroom safari in the woods and forests with an expert.
Did I mention the regional food ?..Well it almost goes without saying that the whole region is famous for it's cuisine and the seasonal use of local produce is the only dictate to the dishes the local restaurants create.
