Tucked into the woods..A sky light over the living area allows fresh sunlight to stream into the cabin. You can sit and relax on the porch swing with views down to the pond and mountain or slide into one of the rockers and watch snowshoe hare frolic on the lawn. In cooler weather the wood stove in this cabin in known for its heat producing prowess - perfect for a lazy day in the armchair by the fire. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
We provide daily, weekly, and monthly rentals of six remote lakesidehousekeeping cabins. Our fully furnished cabins do not have electricity and are non-modernized. The ambience and conveniences you will find are reminiscent of "Little House in the Big Woods" completely comfortable and functional, but a far cry from the whirring sounds of loud generators, noisy campgrounds, and the distractions of electronic devices. This atmosphere conveys and draws you into a world where life comes at a slower pace, simplified, and you can share with your family the way life used to be many years ago. Many of our guests find this is their opportunity to truly get away from it all and go "unplugged" to relax and rejuvenate themselves. Cabin rental includes a fully furnished housekeeping cabin, canoe, kayaks, mountain bikes, all linens, seasoned dry firewood for your woodstove, "camp" wood for the fire pits, dishwashing soap, matches, toilet paper, plus an authentic remote Maine Woods experience!
Each cabin has a fully equipped kitchen that includes propane refrigerator and gas stove (cooktop and oven) with all cooking utensils, pots and pans, dishes, etc. Many “Old-fashioned” kitchen tools that allow you to mix your cakes, perk your coffee (or use a French press) and make your toast with ease as we do not have electricity. Old-fashioned hand water pumps are inside the kitchen at the sink and provide access to our spring-fed well which provides a clear state tested and approved drinking water supply. (except the Moose Cabin which has a portable drinking water cooler to supplement the hand pump)
Kerosene and gas lights
Each cabin has its own private clean outhouse. We believe that this plumbing “out back” experience is in itself authentic & hearkens
back to earlier times and ways
Shower stalls are inside each cabin, and hot showers can be taken by heating water on the wood stove and filling the solar shower bags or filling them and allowing them to heat in the sun.
Each cabin has a wood heating stove and a supply of wood and kindling so you can easily start your own fires and sit back beside the
fire to enjoy its bone-warming heat.
Each cabin has a park style charcoal barbecue stand.
There is a central fireplace where you are welcome to build a bonfire and toast marshmallows, make s’mores, tell ghost stories or
simply enjoy the flicker of a moonlit fire. We also include "camp wood" which we place by the fireplace so you can enjoy the ambience of an evening camp fire.
Each cabin has twin beds which can be converted into king beds at your request. Some cabins have futons that convert to double beds. We also have rollaway beds and cribs available upon request. Beds are provided with warm blankets and crisp sheets. Homemade quilts and afghans lie at the foot of each bed for you to snuggle with while reading a book or drift off to sleep under while listening to the yodel of the
Docks, canoes and kayaks are included as part of your cabin rental (paddles and life preservers for all sizes included). Children can spend the day fishing off the docks and will be rewarded with a variety of fish. We also have two sailboats and a rowboat which guests are welcome to enjoy at no charge.
We rent motorized boats (5 hp and under) upon request. Guests are allowed to launch their own boats with small motors (10 hp and
under). Items towed behind boats, Jet skis and large boats are prohibited. For those anglers and boaters that desire to explore and play in other areas, we have limited space available to store larger boats and trailers.
We have a quarter mile private drive that winds down from the main logging road to the campground. Guest vehicles are kept in the parking lot except during arrival and departure,(which provides a safe and quiet atmosphere for everyone to enjoy nature
and children to play.)
We have a series of well marked nature trails that start in the campground and extends to various locations near the pond. The trailhead to Little Spencer Mountain is 2 miles away and is a challenging and rewarding hike for many of our guests. The logging roads in our area provide a perfect opportunity for mountain bikers. We have a limited supply of mountain bikes that guests can use at no additional charge as part of their cabin rental.
Hunting parties are welcome during the Spring Turkey Season and fall. We welcome hunting dogs as well. Hunting is not allowed from the start of the driveway down to the campground to ensure safety for all guests. After a long day of hunting we understand the
value of a warm cabin and hot food. Upon request., we will gladly keep your woodstove stoked and stick food you have prepared in the oven so it is ready at your expected arrival time. Bear baiting is not allowed in the township so unfortunately we cannot accommodate bear hunters who wish to hunt over bait.

I am a Registered Maine Guide and fifth generation Maine native in the Moosehead Lake Region. My roots run deep in this area on both sides of the family. I have grown up hiking the mountains, rivers, fields, ridges & woods of the East Side / Bottom of Moosehead Lake Region. Along with my husband Dana (who is also a Maine Guide) and my two young daughters we operate seven cabin rentals (Spencer Pond Camps +Lintongan on Moosehead) from May - November. Spencer Pond Camps were owned by my grandparents for 40 years and we are blessed to have the opportunity to be able to share the North Woods and the cabins located on this beautiful township with you. Dana is a commercial fisherman (lobsters in summer and Scallops in winter) and commutes to the coast July-October to haul his traps in Blue Hill Bay. Meanwhile I telecommute from the camps during the week. I have a B.S. is in Wildlife Ecology, and in the far distant past have worked as a park intern and field ornithologist. When we are not working either at the camps(labor of love) or for our day jobs: I enjoy hiking, painting, traveling (Southwest and Anna Maria are favorite destinations), reading, cooking and of course bird watching!
