El lugar

Live like the Poldarks for a week! This is true Poldark country and Wrens Nook is an original Tin Miners Cottage built in the 1700's on a very narrow Cornish country lane which you access on foot. It's got loads of original features including the original sash windows, cupboards, stairs and wood panelling. PLUS we've added a good quality wood burner and a free basket of logs too so that you can cosy up during those Autumn evenings.

Wrens Nook is particularly liked by honeymooners and in fact that is how our parents came across the property back in 1959. It was the start of a real life love story.

There is a double bed in the original 1700's bedroom with a marvellous ensuite attached. There is a really good quality adult double bunk bed and mattresses in the room where the Tin Miners many children used to sleep. Recent renovations included a fabulous garden room, a new kitchen and a smart downstairs bathroom and utility room.

We keep all 11 Poldark novels at the cottage and St Agnes was the inspiration for St Anns and Sawle, the village in the Winston Graham books. Read one while you are at the cottage.

Idyllically situated on a narrow and twisting Cornish Lane that was built for the odd horse and cart, you park on Goonown and begin your holiday with a walk along our lovely Cornish Lane towards the Cottage. You will immediately begin to relax as you see horses, sheep and cows grazing and you take in the long ranging views. It's a holiday where you can get that fit bit working for you! You can walk to pubs, shops and the beach so Wrens Nook offers you a different, more relaxed, view of life.

There is a small parking space for a tiny car at the front of the house but driving down the lane is not for the fainthearted. It is 5ft 5in places and many cars get stuck!

You will enjoy the Cottage and it's fabulous outdoor spaces but please remember that we do have neighbours and we ask you to be respectful about making too much noise.

Kids can happily play in the garden and there are often sheep in the field behind us who are quite inquisitive.

Access to the cottage is down a narrow lane built for horses and carts. Rachael the Housekeeper will meet you at the end of the lane and transport your luggage to the cottage in her tiny car!

As we are not on site it's important to let Pete know your estimated time of arrival so that he can share this with the Housekeeper. If your check in day is Friday, Saturday or Monday between 3pm and 6pm - we provide a Meet and Greet option. If you check in on another day of the week, we share a map of where to park, how to walk to the cottage and Pete will be available on the phone to guide you. It's quite straight forward. Once you book and we know what time and day you will arrive we will agree the details. The lane can be muddy in autumn or if there is a lot of rain so bring wellies.

Please be sure read the House Manual when you arrive and call us with any queries. It is kept in the draw under the TV.

We are equal distance from Truro and Newquay.

Truro is a stunning City - quite different from any other in the UK. It has some fabulous restaurants, a bustling farmers market and lots of local and national shops. Visit the cathedral..... and the museum is a must on a rainy day as it's full of interest.

From Truro we often get the ferry down to Falmouth to visit Rick Steins Fish and Chip place or visit the maritime museum and Pendennis castle.

Please keep the bollards in place at all times when the driveway is being used as sometimes vans try to turn in our space and cause damage.

We are based down a narrow Cornish lane. Only small cars can access the parking at the front of the cottage. Guests park on Goonown Lane and begin their holiday by walking down our ancient track/lane or the Housekeeper will drive you down it in her very small car.

We ask our guests to comply with Wrens Nook manual and ensure that the requests are observed by all members of your party.

Please keep and leave the Property and the furnishings in good condition and if you move any items around please put them back in the original place before you leave. An inventory is taken at the end of each visit so that everything is in place for the next guest. Unfortunately we have had a whole cutlery set and some hairdryers go missing - I know - I couldn't believe it either!

The area is very peaceful and we ask guests to be thoughtful about noise because of the adjoining and neighbouring properties.

May we remind you to check that each member of your party is covered by comprehensive travel insurance (including cancellation, flight delays, loss and damage to baggage and other property) and health insurance.

The cottage is designed for four people only and we therefore do not allow any more than 4 people to stay in the cottage. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate pets into the Property because of the sheep in the field behind.

Additional guests may be agreed at the sole discretion of the owner and with a charge of up to £100 per night per person

We had a lovely stay at Wren's Nook. We were a couple and had plenty of room. The Cottage has been done very nicely, with a lovely sunny dayroom and spacious bathroom. The location is quiet and peaceful. The owners had told us about the narrow access road, but we thought we would try it - and it really is narrow! Anything bigger than a small hatchback would struggle. Would recommend parking at the top of the road and walking the 5-10mins down the road, which itself is a lovely walk. Cottage had everything we needed, and is in a great location. Watching the sun setting behind the Cottage behind a disused tin mine was very memorable.

Wrens Nook was exactly as described and couldn't have been better for my wife and I. The cottage was cosy and the lane quiet just a few walkers and riders but then only a 10 min walk to the village and the best pub the Railway Inn and Taste a great little restaurant. Then 20 min walk to the cove. Cottage has had some some really nice work done on it recently and we spent mornings sitting in the sun room all very nice.

We had a great time at wrens book. It's a dainty cozy cottage that is great to stay in especially on a rainy day! Coming from Australia we thoroughly enjoyed this English cottage experience. This was truly a lovely place to stay but please note that if you have a car it is extremely hard (basically impossible) to drive down the tiny lane that leads to the house. We had our family come and stay for a couple of nights and they have a 4 month old baby so parking at the end of the Lane was not ideal for them with their luggage as well. It was lucky they had a car small enough to squeeze down the lane! It is made known on the on the listing page as well so please be sure to note this if you are going to have a lot of luggage or have a small baby/child.

For foreigners like us a week in beautiful Wrens nook give us a fantastic sense of English countryside. The house was cozy and clean and modern in terms of amenities. Peter and Ruth's carefully selected English vintage china was another thing we appreciated. We travelled around a bit only to realise that St Agnes was the cutest villlage we could find... Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved our stay. The house is superbly equipped, within walking distance of the beach, village and excellent pubs. We enjoyed coastal walks, an excellent meal at Taste and the St Agnes Head pub. St Agnes is a very pretty, friendly village, but does not get too busy.

We had an enjoyable & comfortable stay in stunning surroundings. Cornish roads are not built for large cars and the approach to the cottage is quite small. The walk to St Agnes is very quick and pretty. I've stayed in a b&b in St Agnes before but we prefer going forward to try and stay in a cottage like Wren's Nook.

We are really glad you enjoyed your stay and we agree Cornish roads were not built for large cars. I suppose that is part of the attraction of it. You are very welcome to visit us again whenever it suits you. Cheers, Pete.
