The Old Blue Dog is close to Rutland Water, Stapleford Park, Burghley House and Grimsthorpe Castle, and has great views over the countryside. You’ll love my place because of its quiet rural location but close proximity to the A1, its pretty walled garden and my happy hens. As a romantic getaway for couples, a base for solo adventurers, for writers looking for a quiet retreat or for business travellers, this is the perfect home-from-home set in the tranquil English countryside.

El lugar

Otros aspectos destacables

You may not know this but lady chickens are much happier hens when they are looked after by a handsome male chicken. Bertie, our beautiful resident cockerel looks after his lady hens and their little chicks by finding them food and protecting them from danger. As we live opposite a working farm, you may sometimes hear 'moos' from the cows and 'baas' from the sheep as well as your morning 'cock-a-doodle-do' from Bertie!

Fiona was very welcoming and gave us a few recommendations of places to eat in nearby Stamford which was greatly appreciated. The place was perfect for our short break, and a lovely location to see in the New Year. Besides Stamford would recommend going to Woolsthrope Manor, the birth place of Sir Isaac Newton which we happened to stumble across and is about a 5 minute drive from Fiona's place.

Fiona was very welcoming and accomodating with our moving arrival time. The flat was new, clean and comforable with lovely views of the surrounding fields. Breakfast with tea and coffee was provided. Overall a lovely stay in a relaxing location. Thank you.
