The Old Chapel Schoolhouse is a wonderful house to stay in! We visited with the sheep and chickens just across the street every day, and Max was allowed to feed them the occasional piece of bread, as well as pet and feed the horse just down the road. There is a bus stop three houses away, and a main road just down the hill. We were thinking of renting a car but found our way around easily without needing to- Shirley very kindly left the numbers of the local taxi service and we used those the first two days to get ourselves (three of us) over to Hebden Bridge for a local puppet parade we were involved in. After that, we used the busses and the train, and the double decker bus is the best ride in town! The shops are nearby and there are markets in Todmorden nearly all weekend, as well as our favorite charity shops. We loved the gas fireplace in the living room and used it in the evenings to cut the chill and sit around reading, and my husband cooked some lovely meals in the kitchen as well, with plenty of pots and pans and dishes, as well as a DISHWASHER! We have friends who live nearby and it was my birthday during our trip, and we were easily able to have a sweet dinner with six of us gathered around the kitchen table. The beds are very comfy and my son fell in love with his duvet~ and there are great exploring spaces for kids in the area above the bedrooms. All the windows look out on the hills, and we walked over to the Shepard's Rest one evening for dinner~ about a half an hour walk to get to the other side of the valley. Shirley was very available by text and by just popping by her house if we needed anything- she even watched our 8 year old son for a couple hours one evening so we could go to dinner with friends! And if that wasn't enough, Shirley also allowed us to us the clothesline in the big back garden, and our son loved exploring the small hill in the garden with paths and the pond with fish and frogs. Really really really a delightful stay- we will definttely be back!

Host did everything possible to make it easy for us to get to the house. They provided us with starting foodstuffs and sundries necessary for a comfortable stay. The house was as described and then some. The neighborhood was quiet and nice and the views were great! Shirley provided us with several options of things to see and do which indicated that we did not allow nearly enough time to really take advantage of all the area offered. We would like to have stayed several more days. House was very comfortable and the hosts were more than accommodating. Highly recommend!

Clean, beautifully restored West Yorkshire stone house, close to walking trails. Breakfast provided was plenty...eggs, ham, juice, bread, butter, tea, coffee. Our host picked us up at the train station and our hostess drove us to a place where we took a scenic 9 hour hike. Their heart is in making sure everything went right, and it was a pleasure meeting them.

My wife and I had a lovely time there and our 20 month old did too. It is very well equipped and Shirley is on hand should you need anything else.
