All in all my experience was fine. David is a fantastic, generous host. He offers to show me a bit of the city, which I sincerely appreciated although I was unable to take him up on the offer because I had to leave early in the morning. The room is a bit rough around the edges, but generally clean with the exception. Of the mini-fridge which seemed a bit suspect. It's lit by a single exposed bulb hanging from a fan, has some exposed wiring in one spot, and the door is too small for the frame, leaving about 3 inches of space between the top the door and the bottom of the doorframe. The neighborhood isn't great-houses have metal doors and barbed wire, a car sat on blocks nextdoor, and parking lies adjacent to an abandoned lot-but I never really felt unsafe. All things considered, this is still a great for the money!
