A great budget stay at a scenic and quiet setting (in Vermont woods), yet close to attractions in downtown Brattleboro. Chuck and his family are awesome hosts and we really enjoyed our stay. It might not be suitable for families with young kids since the sleeping quarter upstairs does not have any walls. For our 12 yo daughter, it was no problem though - she thought it was cool to sleep up there. They are also dog-friendly!

Quiet and rural but close to Brattleboro and Putney, where there is lots to do. No frills, beautiful location. Worked well for a 2 day trip to visit Brattleboro and to hike. We loved being able to walk down to the river and explore the trails. The downstairs living area is small but fine for hanging out for a few hours - if you're visiting Vermont, you want to be outside anyway. The loft was a bit cramped - so think tiny house experience! Really enjoyed visiting with the neighborhood dogs and chickens, too. Chuck was a great host. He went out of his way to make sure we had what we needed, yet respected our privacy. He responded quickly to questions via text and offered suggestions for local trails and things to do in the area.

The accommodations at Chuck's family home were cozy and relaxed. My two friends and I (from Boston and California) get together only once a year, and Brattleboro was a central location for all of us. (California friend was visiting family upstate) The place was clean, welcoming and perfect for what we were looking for and needed. Chuck and his family gave us great information about the area and made great suggestions for food and activities. We truly enjoyed our stay, and will return if we find ourselves in the area again.

Really really charming, rustic loft. A short walk away from the river, and a 5-7 minute drive from town. Chuck is a super nice host, and a really amazing potter (which also happens to be for sale). I would go back just to see his pottery again. The one caveat I would give is it is not an appropriate space for people who have difficulty with narrow spaces or steep stairs, as the sleeping quarters require getting up a little wooden ladder.

Chuck's place is cozy and in a great location near Brattleboro. We were happy to be able to bring our dog, and to have immediate access to a trail down to the West River (the kids and dog loved walking down there daily). Chuck is a great host, and made sure we had fresh milk for our two-year old, and had fresh coffee and wine available for the adults.

We stayed three days at the this fabulous place. The surrounding is absolutely beautiful, we walked to the river to swim ever day! Chuck was a great host who gave us lots of ideas for local outings. His hospitality was fantastic, we were provided with delicious local products very day. We can absolutely recommend this place!

Chuck's place is an absolutely gorgeous country getaway while still being close to the town center. I would have loved to stay longer in his peaceful home. The river trails are beautiful and we loved getting to know his winged and four legged neighbors! Chuck and his family were so sweet and generously hospitable. They even brought us fruit infused water and sorbet after our river walk!
