There are weather and related conditions that virtually all homes and residents experience here in the Lake Arrowhead area. It’s the reality of mountain living and vacations. Whether you're in Lake Arrowhead, Mammoth, Lake Tahoe, Park City, Vail, etc., it’s similar. Please be advised that during some of the year, especially in winter months, we can have extreme weather conditions including but not limited to extreme cold temperatures, large daily temperature variations (including very warm weather in the 90's occasionally (however a very small percentage of homes have air conditioning because high temps are not the norm), high winds, snow, rain, hail, lightning, etc. which can cause dangerous and icy roads, road closures, mud and rock slides, floods, large snow berms blocking driveways, difficult or inaccessible driveways, small or inaccessible parking areas, house leaks that we may be unaware of, power outages, power surges, damage to electric fixtures and appliances, damage to heaters, frozen plumbing, plumbing leaks, among other possible problems.
Some days/weeks we will experience none of the above weather conditions, other times one or all will be present. Similarly, some properties will experience none or very little of the negative issues described above, however, especially during heavy weather conditions, many can experience one or more of the negative issues described. We full-time local residents have these things occur to us as well.
The mountains are a rural area with extensive wildlife and plant life. It is rare for any serious dangerous issues to occur due to this and to date none of our hundreds of thousands of guests have ever been seriously injured to our knowledge. However, all guests and visitors to our mountain and forest region need to be aware that there are bears, mountain lions, bobcats, raccoons, deer, mice, rats, gophers, snakes, rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, eagles, hawks, bats, other birds, spiders (and their webs), bees, wasps, yellow jackets, mosquitoes, ants, other insects, and other critters some of which can also get into houses on occasion, even into $10 million homes in gated communities. There are also numerous types of trees and plants including poison oak and ivy, stinging nettle, and of course millions of evergreens, many oaks, and other trees. Plant life does seasonally emit pollen which can bother some people.
