Our host Jacqueline was extremely friendly and welcoming, she was very prompt in responding to queries prior to arrival and even offered to pick us up at the airport. There were also some welcoming treats for us. She met us at the house with her partner Xavier.
The house is newly renovated (july 2016), very clean, and with all necessary equipment etc. The house is well laid out, you enter into a decent size living area that includes a comfortable sofa bed that turns into 2 single beds. There is also a dining table if you need to eat indoors. This leads into a well-equipped kitchen; kettle, percolator, big fridge-freezer, 2 ring hob (there is also a proper gas BBQ on veranda), MW with grill function, DW, WM. There was also some essentials in situ; coffee, milk, oil, salt n pepper, DW tablets WM liquid...). Kitchen opens onto a small porch with 2nd outdoor table that is good when too hot for main table at the front. kitchen also leads to good sized strong shower, that leads into separate toilet. There is a narrow stairs in the kitchen that leads to the main sleeping area, that includes a double bed and a sofa bed and some storage.
At the front is a nice private, gated garden/yard with a deck for sunbathing, plenty of deck chairs. a big table just in front of the door, BBQ beside table. and space for 1 car to park. Hose to wash down wetsuits etc.
The description was accurate-just to add, there was parking space for 1 car, and free on street parking (unusual in lacanau!) if you want to leave the yard space free. the supermarket is 5 minutes walk, the beach and main strip is 10 minutes walk. Nearby restaurants 5 mins; le chat sur le toit (great seafood) & Beach Rock Burger (good burgers nice vibe).
The neighborhood is residential and was very quiet.
Highly recommend; genuinely friendly hosts and a lovely place.
