Atención a los huéspedes
The Bunkhouse is the perfect place to spend the night to and from San Francisco, Yellowstone, the Tetons. We love having guests stop to spend the night, but we really enjoy it when guests stay longer and experience northeastern Nevada. There's so much to see and do here.
Take your son or daughter fishing at South Fork reservoir (20 min away). Hike with the family to a mountain lake, camp or picnic in the Ruby Mountains. Take your boat and fish the Ruby Marshes. Drive north through hills covered in wildflowers and quaking aspen canyons to visit Jarbidge, Idaho. Drive south through Nevada's basin-and-range topography to catch glimpses of wild horse herds. Spend days in Nevada's open back country sightseeing, hiking, fishing, and return to the bunkhouse for a quiet evening on the patio or take a nap in one of the hammocks strung in the trees. In Winter bring your snow mobile or cross-country skis to play in the snow.
There's lots to do here.
In Elko the California Trail Interpretive Center is very interesting and a great educational experience for your children. The Western Folklife Center, home of the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering is unique, and the historic Pioneer Hotel and bar.
A bike path runs east along highway 227 to Spring Creek and west to Khoury's grocery.

John and I have lived in northern Nevada for over 30 years. John moved here when a young boy and spent summers working on a remote cattle ranch. He sold life insurance for the MassMutual Life Insurance Company, and ten years ago started a touring business, Cowboy John Tours LLC. He tours prospective employees for local businesses, tours guests, facilitates the "Ranch Tour" workshop for the National Cowboy Gathering, and shuttles folks to hike the Crest Trail in the Ruby Mountains only about 20 minutes from our house and BNB.
We both love to hike and explore northern Nevada, and John enjoys fly fishing and riding horses. Janice loves hiking and identifying wild flowers in the Ruby Mountains. We travel to Ecuador when we can where our newest grandson lives. When you stay with us you'll notice rugs and alpaca blankets Elan's parents Loni and Greg have given us from Ecuador.
Many stop at the Bunkhouse on their way to and from Yellowstone, Tetons, or San Francisco, and we love to meet them, but we're especially delighted when some stay for the experience we offer of northeastern Nevada: open space, quiet, robin-egg blue sky, fishing, hiking in the Ruby Mountains, viewing wild horses, cross-country skiing and snow mobile trips in winter.
We love it when guests make us a DESTINATION, and we go out of our way to show them what the high desert has to offer.
Also we can safely store your recreational equipment on site for a small fee, $20. Snow mobiles, bicycles, ATVs, trailers. What fun equipment will you be bringing when you stay with us? Feel free to leave it here while you explore Elko or go out for dinner in the evening.
I'll send detailed directions to our place a few days before you arrive, or you may input our address, 2030 Kennedy Ave, Spring Creek, NV, into your GPS.
