Our place is a bright and cheery remodeled upper duplex unit. The house is conveniently located near the airport and has great access to downtown, midtown, south Anchorage, the Coastal Trail, Kincaid Park and more. The large deck looks onto a private backyard. We can accommodate couples, families, smaller groups, and business travelers.
The space is an upper 1200 sq ft 3 bedroom/2 bath duplex unit located in the Spenard neighborhood of Anchorage, Alaska, less than 3 miles from the airport. We also call this house the "Happy House" because of all the fun colors throughout the home. Our kitchen may be the most unique and cheery orange and green kitchen that you have likely seen. Flooring is bamboo, vinyl tile, and new berber carpeting in the bedrooms. There is a large deck in the back for the use of the guests.
We can accommodate 6 guests with a choice of sleeping arrangements as shown below.
Master bedroom: Queen bed (has small bathroom off of the master).
2nd bedroom: Futon, pulls out to a double bed.
3rd bedroom: Single bed, and single air mattress is also available.
The number of guests is limited to 6.
If guests have bicycles, locked storage is available in our shed.

Guests will have the full place to themselves. The upstairs Airbnb rental unit (Unit A) is accessed from the back door and the south driveway. We have a digital lock on the door. Guests will be provided a new code for their stay.

My husband and I live close by and are available to answer questions. Our downstairs tenant may also be able to assist with onsite questions when there is a need, particularly if we are out of town.

Summer season: When possible, we will schedule yard work between guests. Occasionally, this timing may not work out and there may be a yard crew mowing the lawn during your visit. During winter season, guests are responsible for shoveling the driveway and sweeping walkway on deck. (Usually snow removal service cannot arrive quickly enough to accommodate resident schedule, so snow removal service is not effective.) Snow shovels and broom are provided.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property, including outside on the deck, the driveway, or the yard.
Please remove shoes and leave in mud area when entering the house.
Be mindful of downstairs tenant and minimize noise after 10pm.
A propane BBQ grill is available. If guests would like to use the BBQ, plan to contact the host to discuss safety precautions. The BBQ must always be attended when being used and turned off whenever not in use.
There is a fireplace but it is not available for use as a wood burning fireplace. Decorative candles are in the fireplace and may be used also after contacting the host. No other use of candles on the property.
If possible, please use washer, dryer, and dishwasher while present in the house (so no unmonitored leaks occur).
My name is Jody. I have been in Alaska for about eight years after living in California for around 20 years. I love the outdoors and staying active. I have really enjoyed the cross country ski trails in Anchorage in the winter and hiking on the Chugach trails in the summer. And we love the in-town multi-use trails year-round!
