The Stillwell House is a grand 1820's inn authentically, beautifully, and lovingly restored by hand by the owners, Ralph and Mary Stowell, to be THE BEST Bed and Breakfast experience you will ever have the privilege to share. I was welcomed like a family member and invited to participate in fun activities going on within the life inside the 19th century walls of this gorgeous home. My privacy was also very much respected and my own schedule of activities encouraged. The Stowells are a rich resource for suggestions for additional experiences in and around Stone Mountain and the Village. Ralph and Mary Stowell are the kindest, most respectful hosts who are also so much fun! Their generosity and the open-arms atmosphere of The Stillwell House will certainly have me returning as often as possible through the coming years. I have made new friends here and have had a blast!

Ralph and Mary were kind and generous hosts during our stay! The bed and breakfast is stunning and history behind it is fascinating. The rooms were a cozy with a perfect combination of modern and traditional. Ralph and Mary went out of their way to make us feel welcome while there and made it a point to see we had everything we needed. We would love to come back again!

This is a very lovely quaint place in close proximity to Stone Mountain Park. I needed and originally planned to stay for one month. When I attempted to do so I received messages from Mary expressing concern that I may not be happy and suggested I only book for two nights. I was a bit confused and concerned feeling like she was trying to talk me out of booking a month's stay. She said she just wanted to make sure I was happy so I agreed to book the two nights although I desperately needed a place to stay for one month. The arrival was smooth and Mary & Ralph were very pleasant and accommodating. Mary thought they might be gone when I arrived so she offered to send me the door codes. I was appreciative of the offer. However, Mary & Ralph were there to greet me upon arrival. The next morning, Mary asked what I was going to do about a room since all rooms (including mine) were now completely booked. I was surprised not understanding this was a possibility due to our earlier communication. This was my first Airbnb experience so I didn't know the room could/would be booked from under me. I had to check out after the second night. Before leaving, I paid for the remainder of my 27-night stay but not through Airbnb. Atlanta was hit with a storm from Hurricane Irma. Mary & Ralph's place lost power before I checked back in two days later. When I learned the power was out, I remained where I was for another night. I returned to the Inn on the second night and there was no power in my room. Ralph provided a flashlight for use in my room. He also ran wiring from a neighbor to have hall lighting and WIFI. I went to another location the third night to shower and stayed the night. Ralph had hooked up a generator when I return on the fourth night. The lights were on but there was no A/C. Due to fallen tree(s) Ralph wasn't sure when all power would be restored. I told him I needed to go ahead check out. He apologized and said he understood. He added that he'd get with Mary to settle my account. I had paid for 27 additional nights and stayed only one of those nights. This is when things became difficult. We eventually reached a verbal settlement a week later. My financial loss is a hardship. There are three things I would do differently if I had a do-over. 1st - I would have found another place to book for a month initially to avoid the interruption. 2nd - I would have found another place to stay for the remainder of the month once I learned I would not have a room after two nights. 3rd - I would have booked the remainder of the month through Airbnb. Now, this was my experience. This is in part, not everything....

My daughter and I had an amazing stay at this beautiful house. Mary and Ralph were hosts who get to know their guests and do all they can to make your stay memorable. Breakfast was delicious. The bed and whole room were comfortable and inviting. My daughter is obsessed with cats and loved meeting the many friendly felines and cat decor. She didn't want to leave. Mary is a great storyteller and shared renovation and paranormal stories too. She made my daughter feel extra special with books, coloring supplies, and Ralph even made a special pancake. Don't hesitate to spend the night with these wonderful people in their historic home.

Such a neat place. Mary & Ralph are such great people and made me feel so welcome and comfortable. As a single female, traveling alone, I always felt welcome and safe. The home is wonderful if you enjoy historic old GA homes. The detail and work that they have put into the home to provide a more modern feel blends well with the home. The community offers great food and art just a walk away and the Marriott is a very short and easily accessible drive. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and I highly recommend them!
