To be fair, my visit at Wayan Homestay got off to a not-so-wonderful start when I arrived to find that the room I had booked (and paid for) was not the room they were putting me in - an unfortunate bait-and-switch. Long story short, I booked a room here on AirBnB which looked lovely and included air conditioning - but the room I was put in was FAR lesser in quality and didn't have AC at all. In addition, the room was horrifically dirty (soiled walls, a bathroom so grimy I wasn't even comfortable showering there, a mini fridge that looked like a science experiment, etc.) - so much so that I was pretty horrified and almost left immediately after taking photos, assuming I would be filing a claim with AirBnB to get my money back. However, Wayan promised me that they would move me to the appropriate room the following day and given that I was exhausted after a long flight and didn't relish the idea of finding another place that night (it was after dark), I chose to stay the one night in the lesser room rather than head out on foot to find someplace else.
Things were better the next day when they moved me, however, and the room that I was switched into was really gorgeous and a great value for the money. Complete night and day from the first room! It appeared to have been recently renovated and was pristine with a very comfortable bed, air conditioning, a desk area and wardrobe, a brand new mini fridge and a beautifully appointed bathroom with modern shower, etc. If anything, it was even a step above the room I had originally booked to begin with. If you judge by the quality of this second room, it is obvious that the proprietors care about their guests and have excellent taste in amenities and décor, etc.
So in the end, all was forgiven and I was grateful to Wayan and his brother for putting me in a room that was very comfortable for the second night and actually ended up booking a third night with them (in the nicer room).
The moral of the story here, I think, is that they have several guest rooms at Wayan Homestay which vary *significantly* in quality, amenities, and comfort - so make sure that you get the room you booked (or one that is comparable). The room I stayed in after they moved me was #5 and it is lovely so if you can request that one, I highly recommend it! (And they did make mention of the fact that they plan to renovate that first room in the very near future, so that one might be updated very soon as well.)
