Little House on the Lake is on a high bluff overlooking Lake Huron. You’ll love your stay because of the perfect balance of outdoor activity and opportunity to commune with nature. Amenities include two kayaks, a large outdoor fire pit, indoor fireplace, private beach, and nearby harbor towns to explore. Good for couples and solo adventurers, this knotty pine, high ceiling cottage house on Lake Huron has a full kitchen with beautiful quartz countertops, and french doors to the bedroom.

El alojamiento
This cozy, 800 square foot house is comfortable in every season. With central heating and cooling, it's easy to change the temperature to your specifications. The stairs to the beach include a landing half way down, a perfect spot to take your morning coffee or tea or relax with a book on our chaise lounges. With the sun glimmering on the water, a gentle breeze, and many water fowl in the area, it's a bird lovers paradise!

Plenty of wood is available for a long evening of fire gazing in front of the fireplace or the fire pit outside.

There is no dishwasher. Time to slow down and experience all the wonders of each moment by being present with simple activities. It may surprise you how pleasant they can be.

Kayaks are stored on the top of the seawall. Please make sure you replace kayaks on the seawall and do not leave them on the shore of the lake as large waves can take the kayaks out and they could be lost. Please store paddles on the side of the house; life jackets in the house. Water shoes for the lake are recommended (please bring your own).
We have a new seawall as of 2020. Full access for kayaking remains.

Single size fold out couch/chair bed is available if you have a third guest with you. There is a $25 charge per night for the third guest.

By popular request, we now have an outdoor BBQ grill! Please bring your own one pound green (camping) propane canister if you plan to use the grill. Grilling utensils provided.

Complimentary red wine, or sparkling cider is offered to welcome guests for their stay. :-)

Otros aspectos destacables
There are great local restaurants. My favorite is the Stone Lodge (some gluten free items) and Uri's Landing, 2 miles away in Port Sanilac. Mary's Diner and the Blue Water Inn (great pizza) are also in Port Sanilac. Lexington hosts a variety of delicious fare, including the fabulous Windjammer on the water, the Village Pub, Sweetwater Gourmet Deli and Bakery, as well as the unforgettable Lexington Brewing Company and Winehouse.

There is no cable TV at the Little House on the Lake, however there is a TV with DVD/VHS player available. But why watch when you can be outside!?!

SONOS sound system available.

I would highly recommend a massage from Lisa Rumble of Crystal Waters Mobile Massage (http://www.facebook.com/crystalwatersmobilemassage).
She comes to the house or her home studio is practically across the street if you'd prefer to go there. Call ahead to make appointment. Very reasonable rates and excellent massage. Crystal Waters Massage: 810-537-1549.

The Little House on the Lake is nestled on the shores of Lake Huron between the harbor towns of Port Sanilac (2 miles north) and Lexington (9 miles south). During the busiest times in summer, traffic noise can be a mild distraction when in the front yard or on the patio, as we are located about 150 feet from M-25, a major thorough fare. On the landing of the stairs or down at the lake shore, no noise is typically heard, but the sounds of beautiful Lake Huron.

Little House on the Lake is located on the Lake Huron River Circle Tour route (see (URL HIDDEN) Reasonable short road trips to other areas of interest might include kayaking to Turnip Rock from Port Austin and hiking in the Sanilac Petroglyphs Historic State Park site (Cass City), a very interesting and fun place to visit.

The Port Sanilac Farmers Market, located on the grounds of the Historical Village in Port Sanilac, is open Fridays from 2-7pm from late May through October. The Lexington Farmer's Market "The Market Lexington", (located one mile west of the light in Lexington at 6934 Peck Road) is open Saturdays from 9-4, and Sundays from 10-3. Please verify days and times on-line should there be market schedule changes.
There are many great shops and antique stores to peruse in the Port Sanilac and Lexington areas.

There is a small grocery store in Port Sanilac, called Willis Marketplace, as well as a party store/gas station with longer hours a few blocks south of the light in Port Sanilac.
Raymond Hardware in Port Sanilac, has been recognized by the State of Michigan as Michigan’s oldest, continually operating hardware store.

Visit (URL HIDDEN) for information about the harbor, marina, our lighthouse, The Barn Theater and our Historic Village and Museum.

The Lexington Brewing Company and Wine House is a local favorite with an onsite microbrewery and seasonal tasting room for Blue Water Winery and Vineyard wines, delicious food and live local music.

The Coffeehouse Acoustic Open Mic Night, sponsored by the Blue Water Folk Society, is a mecca for local and out of town musicians the second Saturday night of the month from October to March from 7-10pm. The Coffee House meets at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Lexington. The talent of this live acoustic music can't be beat!

I am a transplant to sleepy Sanilac County since 2002. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, kayaking, biking, spending time in nature hiking, and cross country skiing in the winter. We love hosting guests on Airbnb. It brings us joy to share something good with others. “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” ~ Albert Einstein
