I am, like many, a transplant from the North. Three years ago, I fell in love with Charleston during a random, 5 day visit to the area, drawn to the beauty, history and cultural offerings. The first day after returning home, I called my Realtor and made an offer on a charming, spacious condo with 3 bedrooms ensuite, each offering privacy, with a family room, and formal dining room , in a gorgeous setting on John's Island. I added a covered rear porch, providing a place for grilling and entertaining and is totally private. My home is located less than 15 minutes from both downtown and Kiawah, the notable beach and golf resort. Although there are 3 other beaches within a half hour drive, I typically go to the beautifully maintained, public beach at Kiawah. My condo is 300 yards from Whitney Lake where the residents fish, kayak and paddle board, my favorite pastime. It is an amazingly quiet environment with walking trails and biking. The Island is very casual and boasts 2 notable eateries, Wild Olive and Fat Hen, along with sushi bars, breweries and taverns, each with the typical southern hospitality that you would expect, with welcoming and friendly patrons. Of course downtown offers the cultural and the historical, as well as upscale shopping venues. The famous "Market" downtown is tent upon tent of beautiful offerings of the talented artisans from all over the south. The various plantations and gardens are a must see as well. There are literally hundreds of offerings, performances and venues to explore each day, so plan on more than a few days.
I am a middle aged, lady who cultivated a very successful real estate career for nearly 20 years up North. Having had my share of 65 hour work weeks, my son suggested that I move somewhere "cool" and do something that I would enjoy. I have always dreamt of owning a bed and breakfast, having experienced several over years of traveling and enjoyed the comfort and the unique ambiance of each. I love to entertain and have never met a stranger, believing that everyone has something worth sharing and is interesting on some level. I'm certainly not intrusive as I know the qualitites of being a good hostess, but I will gladly greet you with a tall glass of sweet tea, a glass of wine or a craft beer. Enjoying time with others nurtures one's soul and enhances our capacities to understand one another. As a born nurturer, you will be greeted with a smile, fresh flowers and crisp sheets, creating a delightful place to reutrn to after a long day of enjoying the beautiful lowcountry. I am gregarious and have heard that I am fun, so please come to visit and chat awhile or simply take in my space alone. Breakfast is an option for those who care to challenge my culinary skills. I'm sure that I can drum up some references from my friends, who will likely vouch for me, so if it spur your curiosity, go for it. Morning coffee, of course!
So pick a date and call me!! I'll be thrilled to prepare your space and hopefully, be a part of a memorable visit!! I'm as excited as you are!
