Our stay at Dover Cottage was a perfect 10! A home away from home, nestled in the north country. The cottage is spacious, yet cozy. All the essentials are their for you, so upon arrival the only thing you need to do is bring your bags, get settled, and begin relaxing. Their were plenty of activities for the little ones, as my 2.5 year old daughter discovered. The canoes were a nice treat, as we don't have our own. Lots of books and games to play. Even a dart board in the basement for some rainy day entertainment. The down town area is about a short 15 minute drive. And the Wild Center another few miles beyond that, making it easy to dine, fuel up and have some fun! Thank you Laurie for sharing your lovely treasure with us. It was just what we were looking for. We plan to return in the future :)

What a perfect place to relax and unwind! The privacy, view of the lake, and quiet surroundings (except for the occasional sound of a loon or owl) were exactly the change we needed from our more hectic lifestyle. We drove from North Carolina to spend our first visit to the Adirondacks. While our goal was to go on as many hikes as possible, we found that we were reluctant to leave the comfort of the house for too much time. But we managed to find a balance and do it all. We took many pictures on the trip, but some of the most beautiful were the ones of Gull Pond with the mist rising in the mornings off the lake. What a treat to wake up to that! As for specifics -- Dover Cottage had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Although we did not get to meet Laurie in person on this trip, we spoke to her on the phone and by e-mail, and it was clear how much she cared that we have a pleasant visit. We felt totally confident that if we needed help with anything, she would do anything to accommodate us. The house is a bit remote (which we like) for someone who is interested in a more "touristy" area. Tupper Lake is a small town, but everyone we met there was incredibly friendly and helpful. So if your goal is to find peace and quiet in a beautiful setting, Dover Cottage is exactly the place. We hope to return next year in September for another visit!

Our stay at Dover Cottage was great! Laurie was a helpful and very responsive host. She went out of her way to provide us with area information, and always answered my questions promptly and thoroughly. The cottage is wonderful, and we loved our time there. It was a perfect size for us - 3 couples. We each had our own, waterfront-side, bedroom and bathroom! And the main living area is open and comfortable and inviting. There is a mult-level deck also overlooking the water, and a screened porch if there are bugs (which there weren't for us). We used the canoes on the very peaceful Gull Pond - saw a loon and a bald eagle! We hiked 2 mountains during our stay - great central location for lots of hiking. All in all a wonderful place to stay! I would definitely recommend Dover Cottage.

This cottage was perfect for our family vacation. Everything was provided. It exceeded my hopes. There was plenty for our two kids to keep entertained. We biked in Tupper Lake on a new trail, went over to Saranac Lake and over to Lake Placid. We had more things on our list to do, but opted to just relax and hang out at the cottage! We floated on tubes, swam, canoed, fished, ate lots of homemade food, went to Raquette River Brewing a couple times! The pond was much larger, classier and just more beautiful than I would've expected. Thank you Laurie for opening your property to us!!!

We could not have been happier with our stay at Dover Cottage. It was private, wooded, and had easy access to the lake, which itself was clean and quiet. We really enjoyed taking the canoes and the the rowboat (all provided and easy to manage) out fishing. Inside, the cottage provides an open, rustic, all-wood space that perfectly complements its location. There were only two of us during our stay, but it could have comfortably fit many more. Overall, we were really fortunate to have found this place, and would certainly consider going back in the future.

Our stay at Dover Cottage was wonderful. The rustic cottage is located directly on Gull Pond, which is a beautiful lake. Peaceful and serene. We spent many hours paddling/rowing around it or just sitting on the deck enjoying the view. Listening to the loons and owls was a highlight. The house itself is well laid out for a family. All the utensils and cookware that you would need are provided. Wifi is speedy if you're feeling compelled to check your email or stream a video (although I'm not sure why you would want to do either while you're here). Laurie was an excellent host. Very responsive and helpful. There were a few small glitches during our stay, and Laurie took care of them right away. Area highlights that we enjoyed were: 1) kayaking Bog River (incredibly beautiful); 2) climbing Mt. Arab fire tower (amazing view); 3) visiting the Wild Center (fun for kids of all ages); 4) biking Massawepie Mire (excellent but take bug juice); 5) visiting the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake (about an hour away but WELL worth the trip). And of course, our favorite, just hanging out at Dover Cottage and Gull Pond. Thanks to Laurie for her hospitality and opening up Dover Cottage to us. We would have loved to stay longer.

My father designed and built our cottage. Now my brother and two sisters and I own the house. Our family loves it there -- we've had so many happy times at Gull Pond. We've decided to open it up to renting as a way to be able to keep it in the family. It's a great place for retired couples who like quiet, fishing, and hikes, or for young families. We're sure you will love it as much as we do.
