We are totally flexible and just want you to have the comforts of home, feel like you really belong in Calella and experience a true sense of the Catalan life. Otros aspectos destacables
***OUR SYMBOLIC LIAISON LILY
In lieu of my absence, Lily will be our confidant. According to Merriam Webster, a liaison is one that establishes and maintains communication for mutual understanding and cooperation. Because I cannot be there physically to be your host, I came up with the idea of Lily. Please know that virtually I ca be called upon and also there for you in spirit. :)
***PLEASE READ ENTIRE LISTING DESCRIPTION AND RULES BEFORE REQUESTING A RESERVATION.
***NOTE: Since we are centrally located in Calella you can expect to have some street noise (garbage trucks, kids walking home from school at noon and in the afternoon, trains, etc.) It also happens that there are a number of bars/pubs located on the same street and cross streets of the home. Having the balcony window doors closed will damper the noise level considerably. In the summer months, the noise level is cranked up a couple of notches due to the many activities planned by the township of Calella (beach concerts that go on wee hours of the night) and people having maybe one too many drinks in the quest of quenching that summer thirst :). Please keep this in mind if you are a very light sleeper. Ear plugs can be found in the nightstand drawer of the master bedroom.
*** When making a request, please tell us a little about yourselves - what do you want in life? What are your political views ( no, jeje, only kidding :) ) Seriously, it is IMPORTANT that I get a sense of who you are: What do you dedicate yourself to, any special interests you would like to do during your stay, any special concerns you may have and indicate that you have read the full listing and house rules... Thank you!
P.S. If you are vegetarian or vegan, please let me know. As a vegan myself, I can give you precious information on places to eat. Barcelona was one of the first cities to be officially named a Veg-Friendly city.
P.S.S. We can recommend a highly qualified scuba instructor if so predisposed.
***VEG FRIENDLY BARCELONA
***Please use common courtesy for the benefit of our neighbors, especially in regard to noise.
SMOKING: No smoking indoors. Smoking is allowed on the terrace only; just throw away cigarette buts in the garbage.
LIGHTS: We try to be environmentally conscious in our own small ways. Please conserve energy when possible. Turn off all lights when leaving the apartment and when not in the room. Turn off air conditioner/heat when not home. I promise it will cool up quickly when you turn it on again upon returning home.
FLOORS: Living in Vienna, Austria we picked up the custom and appreciation of taking off our shoes upon entering our home. I would also ask that you follow this custom as it will help keep our floors looking their utmost best and it will allow you to enjoy walking around barefoot throughout the house without any qualms. This holds especially true for the little ones. Barefoot or bring along your house slippers.
KITCHEN: Please make sure the burners are off when not in use. Electric stovetops can be tricky.
FAMILY GAMES: Do find some games the whole family can enjoy in the left-side drawer of the small entertainment console in the living room. Be present in this family vacation!
FIRST AID KIT: In the sink cabinet in bathroom on the second floor.
LAUNDRY: The washer is in the bathroom on the first floor. Again let's be environmentally conscious and try to wash with as much of a full load as possible. Make sure the door is shut correctly on washer when put in use. The cycle will not begin unless this is so. If you see this is the case just give the door a little nudge and it will activate the cycle.
CHECK IN AND OUT: Times are flexible just let us know what your plans are and we will try to accommodate.
***Pets are not allowed.
***We do not allow booking for others. We like to have communication with the person actually staying in the apartment.
"Where are you from?" is the question I seem to get all the time especially now living in Ecuador. I automatically switch to explanation mode. "My origin is Colombian but I was born in the States - born and raised." Then I get the, ok that explains it, nod. Due to my physio type, I can easily be identified as a fellow Ecuadorian but once I open my mouth and begin to express myself, the confusion and intrigue arise. Perplexed because they cannot pin where I am from, they feel compelled to ask me, "the question". It's hard to pin me because I have moved around a lot. I left the States in 2002, to live in Europe (Italy, Austria and Spain). I have picked up, through osmosis, I guess, a little bit of each country's essence; some of its customs, expressions and mentality. Needless to say, I am a very open minded person who loves to travel and soak up the local scene especially when it involves or deal with: music, art, creative vegan food, biodynamic farming, supporting local produce, sustainable living, yoga and anything/everything with our beloved mother nature. Despite my nomadic tendencies, I can also say that I am very much a homebody. I guess it must be the crab in me - I'm Cancer. I have developed the art of giving places a true sense of home and belonging. So just as the crab takes his home everywhere he goes, so do I. As your host, this is what my goal is for you, to give you that sense of home because if you really think about it, "Home is where the heart is."
