HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you're going to Jaco! Cristian's place is awesome, big and clean. The pool is nice and it was in a great location to explore lots of things. Jaco Beach isn't the greatest (at least not while we were there in August). It was pretty rocky and rough, BUT, Jaco is a really cool town and in a great spot to check out lots of different beaches and drive around to a lot of attractions if you have a car. Cristian and the rest of the staff at the Monte Carlo Condos were awesome and super helpful. The best tip Cristian gave us was to drive about 15 minutes down the road to a beach called Playa Mantas. It's a little tough to get to the first time, but if you have a car, I highly recommend it. During the week it's basically like a private beach. We even found a little rock path you can climb over do ANOTHER beach where we saw a lot of parrots. Any time we wanted a beach day, we went there. Other than that, we drove down to Manuel Antonio beach for a day - which was only about an hour. We did something called "Subwing" after a boat ride to Tortuga Island (awesome!). We drove up to the Arenal Volcano for day/night and stayed in La Fortuna - which was a pretty long 4-hour journey, but worth it. (If you drive there, for a scenic route, go around the Arenal Lake. For a quicker but more challenging route for the adventurers, go through San Ramon). Overall, a great trip. If you're going to the west side of the island, this is the perfect place to stay. My only thought looking back is that we had a lot of locals say the Caribbean (east) side of Costa Rica has much nicer beaches (aka Limon). So, if there is a next time - we might consider that. Jaco and Cristian were great, but I'd highly advise renting a car so you can explore. For the beach-drinking vacationers, I don't think spending everyday on Jaco Beach would have been that amazing. If you're a pool-drinking vacationer or an explorer/adventurer, this will be perfect! :)

Cristian was very accommodating, communicating and acting quickly as our scheduled arrival time changed due to missing a flight. It made a stressful situation much less stressful and we really appreciated the attention. The condos at Monte Carlo are excellent and very convenient to everything in Jaco with the added benefit of security and seclusion from the general public...a sort of oasis in paradise. The ladies at the front office can help with tours and general information about the city. The air conditioning came in very handy as we were there in April and found out it is the hottest month before the rainy reason begins. If you're used to Florida (or most of the U.S. East Coast weather) in the summer months you will be fine. We found Jaco very laid back and easy to get around. All the tours include transportation so a rental car is really unnecessary, but convenient if you want to check out other CR cities where the tours do not go. Otherwise I suggest renting a bike or golf cart as needed to cruise the strip and beaches. If you're into animal life we recommend taking Chino's Mangrove Monkey Tour for the best tour for the buck (ask for crazy Alex!)
