Experience Cape Town like a true local in this stylishly-furnished, historic 19th century six-bedroom townhouse situated at the foot of Table Mountain. An airy, sprawling bedroom awaits you in a house shared with 5 local Cape Town musicians in their mid-twenties. The house is just 100 meters from hip and trendy Kloof Street, filled with eclectic cafes, restaurants, and vintage/boutique shopping. Lion's Head, Table Mountain and some of Cape Town's nicest beaches are just a few minutes away.

El lugar

Our house is centrally located in the heart of Cape Town's City Bowl, in a safe and hip neighborhood called Gardens. The house itself was built in the late 19th century and features six bedrooms total, the largest of which will be yours. There are also two bathrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs, a fully-equipped kitchen, a front porch, and a back yard/chill space.

Your room is huge... almost 40 square meters, and has a vintage Steinmeyer piano, some guitars, a clothing rack for hanging clothes, a couch, two surfboards you can use if you surf (please, no beginners on the shortboards -- just rent a proper foam longboard for learning at the beach), a nice JBL speaker system for playing music AS LOUD AS YOU WANT, and the creme de la creme: a queen-sized Tempurpedic mattress that will have you sleeping SO well every night.

The bedroom windows look out onto the street with views of Table Mountain and Lion's Head from inside the room. The bedroom door also has a lock on it so your belongings are extra safe when you are out and about on missions around Town.

Disponible para huéspedes

The room is all yours to enjoy, along with everything in it. Please make yourself(ves) at home and use the space as if it were your own. The energy around the home is creative, easy-going, and very chilled. Feel free to make noise, sing in the shower, and play music. You will have full access to the kitchen and everything in it for prepping meals -- whether it's a simple snack, or an elaborate gourmet meal, we have everything you need.

The downstairs bathroom has all the soap, shampoo, and conditioner needed to keep you squeaky clean during your stay. Towels and hairdryer are all provided for you.

Atención a los huéspedes

Prepare to feel like a local. You will be welcomed and hosted by my 5 roommates who I share the house with. They are all artists and musicians born and raised in Cape Town and they know the city and the scene like the backs of their hands. They are all lovely, friendly, open people who will be happy to give you tips and secrets on cool spots to eat, dance, drink, shop, and chill -- there are tons in our neighborhood!

If you want to have your own space, that's fine too! Close your door and jump into your (40 square meter) space! With the door closed, all sound and energy from other rooms in the house are completely blocked out and you are in your own world.

Otros aspectos destacables

The home is a shared space -- please keep that in mind!

The WiFi works, but isn't always incredibly fast, due to caps that are placed on households by South African Internet Service Providers after a certain amount of data has already been used. The beginning of the month is always very fast, but please no downloading files, as it chews through data! There are some GREAT cafes just around the corner with lightening fast wifi and cheap beers/delicious coffee... my favorite is Yours Truly.

This house is communally shared with 5 other people. Please be aware of that during your stay! Common courtesies like cleaning up after yourself(ves) in the kitchen and not bringing strangers in from off the street apply. If you'd like to smoke, please step out on to the front porch or into the back yard. Other than that, it's a very free-spirited, open space with not a whole lot of rules. Feel at home, be yourself, good vibes await you from the other housemates, who are all lovely people.

John was extremely responsive, helpful and caring in all of our communication - it was clear he wanted us to have a great time in Cape Town, and seamless use of his wonderful space! I really appreciated his extra effort in creating a welcoming room and home for us, and his accommodation when our travel plans went awry (checking in and leaving a few hours later than expected). His housemates were kind and helpful in John not physically being there, which was great.
