Besides the private room and bathroom that is located just steps across the hall and the use of the laundry room, guests are permitted to join us in the living room to watch the big screen television or visit with us in the family room when we are home. Additionally, guests are permitted to enjoy the backyard (House Rules.) Guests are not permitted upstairs unless invited, as our home offices are located there and we have another Airbnb located up there. Guests might also be invited, from time to time, to enjoy a glass of wine or refreshments with us in the evenings or to join us for a meal out or to see a local attraction.

We ask our guests to be completely honest with us when booking, in terms of how many guests will be staying. We used to allow guests to bring small dogs, but all it took was one guest to sneak in a big dog and break all our pet rules and not pay the pet fees for us to now have a NO PET policy. We are very very sorry. We have found that other guests have brought extra guests without paying for them. We really go the extra mile for our guests and having pets and extra guests translates to extra costs for us. The Airbnb experience is based in large part upon honesty and trust. PLEASE be honest with us and pay our posted charges. Please read our House Manual BEFORE you arrive-it clearly sets forth all of our policies in an effort to eliminate confusion and frustration. If we find there are additional people in your group that were not part of your reservation when you check in, we will expect you to pay the difference to us for the extra guest(s) upon arrival or we will cancel your entire reservation and ask you to immediately vacate. Thank you for understanding and accepting these policies. We really want to avoid any misunderstandings about our policies and charges and we want to make this a wonderful traveling experience for you. Let's get off in the right foot, with a clear understanding of what is what and who is who, shall we?
We do own a mostly-outdoor male neutered cat named Groucho Marxx. He is dark grey and white with a goatee and mustache. He sometimes comes in to his garage "home" at night. We sometimes allow him inside for very short periods for some petting and play. He is very loving and very friendly. However, Groucho is a hunter...big time. He loves to bring us "gifts" of nature and they usually are presented on the driveway. We apologize in advance if you happen to discover one of his gifts before we have the chance to remove it and clean up the remains. Often times it can be quite shocking to see what he is capable of gifting to us. He is otherwise a very gentle cat and this is his way of showing his appreciation to us for feeding him and caring for him. It is what cats do. Please immediately let us know if you find one of Groucho's "presents" before we do so we can promptly clean it up. Again, our apologies in advance if you happen to come across a messy gift from Groucho. If you want to pet or play with him, please do not bring him inside your room or allow him on your bed. Thank you!
PARKING. There is ample street parking at the curb in front of the house. Please take care not to park in front of any of our neighbors' homes.
ENTRY. You will enter the premises from the flagstone front patio off the driveway. There is a white French door that leads directly into your room. There is a key code we will provide to you that will open the door. The room also has a lock on the door that goes into the main part of the house for your privacy and security.
ANIMALS: We previously accommodated guests traveling with one small crated dog. Unfortunately, one guest ruined that policy for everyone by sneaking in a large dog, violating all of our pet policies and then not paying our pet fees. We are very sorry we can no longer host fur-kids in our Airbnb rooms.
EFFICIENCY CENTER: Your room is supplied with a complete efficiency center that is well-stocked and permits you to prepare simple meals in your room with the use of a small refrigerator, Kurig, microwave oven, and toaster oven that are also provided in clean and good working order. We also have stocked the center with basic breakfast items like instant oatmeal and cream of wheat cereals, cereal and fruit bars, fruit, nut bars, teas and coffees and various other items. For this reason, we do not permit access to our main gourmet kitchen, unless advance special permission is requested and granted.
In one of our efficiency centers, there was a major liquid spill that guests failed to tell us about and allowed to sit on the wood shelf for days. Please, please, please treat our things like you would your own. Please check the appliances, like the coffee makers to see if they need to have the water capture container emptied. If you spill something, please clean it up immediately!! If you are unable to clean it up, at least tell us about it immediately so we can alleviate the damage to our property by taking prompt action. If you fail to do so, you agree in advance to forfeit your security deposit. Thank you for understanding this policy.
EATING/DRINKING: Your room is equipped with a small table and chairs for your use in eating snacks and meals. You also have an outdoor space available to you if the weather is nice and you wish to eat out on your deck or enjoy some coffee or wine out there. Please do not eat or drink in bed (except for water), as this is the quickest way to destroy and stain the bedding. Thank you so much for honoring this rule.
ESSENTIALS: Your room and bathroom are also equipped with nearly all essentials one would need while traveling. We provide these items as a courtesy to our guests to use and enjoy while they are in our home. If during your stay you find that you do not need to use the items that are stocked in the drawers and cupboards, please leave those items behind for other guests to use if necessary. Extending this courtesy will permit us to continue to provide these extra amenities without increasing our prices.
EVENTS AND PARTIES: We built a backyard and have a home for entertaining. If you would like to host a party for friends or family during your stay, let us know ahead of time and we can help you do that for an extra fee. We are known in the local area for the parties we throw and would thoroughly enjoy helping you host your own party at our house!
LAUNDRY: We have a laundry room with a large washtub sink that is next to the bathroom designated as yours. You are welcome to do up to one load of laundry for every day you stay. Detergent, bleach and fabric softener are provided for your convenience. If you use the washer and dryer, kindly clear the lint trap in the dryer after every load and wipe off the appliances when finished.
LINENS AND TOWELS: We change the bed linens and towels after every guest and sanitize the mattress. We will change your bed linens and provide you with fresh towels once every four days, unless you request otherwise. Please do not launder towels and sheets items yourself. To maintain the highest level of cleanliness, we must launder these items ourselves.
CONSERVATION EFFORTS: You are provided with two sets of towels, including (2) beach towels, (4) bath towels, (4) hand towels and (4)wash cloths. Please help us conserve water, which is regulated and very expensive in this city, by reusing your towels during your stay. There are several hooks in your room from which to hang towels and clothing: four hooks by the entrance into the room, two on each side of the door and four hooks on the back of the other door leading into the main house. Two of those hooks are occupied by the two bathrobes that are provided for your use during your stay. Your bath and hand towels and wash cloths are located under the sink in the bathroom. There are full-size toiletry items under the bathroom sink that are there for your use and convenience. Please do not use the towels you are provided to wipe off make-up or soak up blood or coffee. You have been provided rags and paper towels in your room for those types of situations. If you have an accident that requires an immediate change of linens or towels, please notify us so that prompt action may be taken to mitigate any damage. Thank you!
ADDITIONAL AMENITIES: We have beach cruisers, helmets and locks for your use, along with beach towels, sunscreen of varying strengths, sunhats, beach blankets, boogie boards, kick boards, ice chests and ice packs. All of these items are complimentary. However, we have a price list posted in the room House Manual such that if you return any of the equipment in damaged condition or fail to return it, you agree by using it that you will be assessed the posted fee.
ACCESS TO THE MAIN HOUSE AND BACKYARD: You are welcome to join us in the main living room area or family room area located off the main kitchen or to go into the backyard and enjoy the garden and seating back there. However, we do not permit shoes on the carpet and ask that doors not be left open to prevent mosquitos and other pests from entering the house. There is a wood-burning fire pit at the top deck of the backyard. If you are interested in using it rather than the propane fire pit on your private patio, please ask and we will see what we can do to accommodate your request.
RECYCLING: Just inside the garage door, which is located down the hall to the left of the laundry room, are two recycling bins. The larger one is for plastic bottles, cans and glass bottles. The smaller one is for recyclable paper and plastic products. Kindly place any of your recyclable trash in the applicable containers. Thank you.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING: There is a squeegee at the bottom of the shower. Please squeegee the shower walls and glass doors and make sure there are no water marks after your shower, as our water is naturally very hard and creates extremely hard water deposits on glass and porcelain. Thank you. The room is also equipped with cleaning supplies. If you use dishes or utensils, please wash them in the utility sink and dry them with the dish rags or paper towels that are also provided in the convenience center. If you spill in the refrigerator or the microwave or toaster oven or on the counters or shelves, please wipe up after yourself. If you track in sand or dirt on the floor, please use the broom to sweep up. Thank you for using common courtesy and helping us maintain our Airbnb in great condition.
USE OF CANDLES AND SMOKING: There is a real candle in the candle holder on the café table and stick matches in the curio box on top of the table. You are permitted to light the candle so long as you are present in the room. Do not leave the room when the candle is lit and do not allow the candle to burn when you go to sleep. While we do not permit smoking indoors, you are free to smoke outdoors, particularly outside on the front patio right outside your room. There are chairs there, a fire pit and an ash tray. We are 215 friendly and we are able to provide names of reputable delivery services to our home if you carry a valid medical recommendation with you when you travel, which is currently still required in the State of California, despite the legalization of recreational use of cannabis.
PATIO FIREPIT: The patio has a propane fire pit. We keep it covered when not in use to protect it from the marine air. Feel free to use it! Please be sure to turn it off when you are finished and replace the cover. Thank you!
CABLE TELEVISION: We have cable television in your room with all cable channels through OnDemand. There is also an Apple T.V. box in the bottom drawer of the convenience center for any guest who has a subscription and wishes to use it. Please replace the box in the drawer when you are finished using it. Thank you!
THEFT AND LOSS: We have posted in the room House Manual a price list of the convenience and furnishing items that we expect will not be removed from our dwelling when you leave. These items include but are not limited to dishware, utensils, spices, full-size toiletries, laundry supplies, small appliances, bedding, towels, robes, housewares and décor. Our policy is to assess the charges listed on the price sheet to any guest who permanently removes, damages or destroys any priced item on the list. When you become our Airbnb guest, you agree to this policy. To that end, we request that our guests immediately notify us if any item from the lists is missing, destroyed or damaged when they arrive so they are not improperly assessed any additional charges.
BEACH EQUIPMENT: Besides the beach basket located in your closet, we also have beach chairs and beach cruisers with helmets and locks available for guests' use on a first-come, first-served basis. These items are located in our garage, along with ice for the small cooler in your room and beach chairs. If you wish to use them, just ask and we will make them available.
ADDITIONAL REFRIGERATOR SPACE: We offer additional refrigerator space to guests who need room greater than the small refrigerator in their room. We have a full-size refrigerator/freezer located in our garage which can be accessed from the door at the end of the hallway past the laundry room. Help yourself to any clear space in this appliance to store additional refrigerated and frozen items you bring with you. Please do not take any additional items that are stored in this refrigerator/freezer without first asking permission. Thank you!
DEPARTURE: When you depart after your stay, kindly strip your linens and put them in the clothes hamper. If you used the robes that are hanging behind the bedroom door, kindly place them in the hamper so they can be laundered. If you have not used them, please leave them on the back of the door. Please empty the trash receptacles in the bedroom, bathroom and laundry room (if you did laundry) and place all trash in the cans located in the enclosure next to the driveway. Please do not put your trash in the recycle bins in the garage. (Yes, the same guest that snuck in the big dog put its poop in our recycle bin for cans!) Be sure to secure the enclosure when you are finished. Thank you.
If you need anything at all during your stay, please do not hesitate to let us know. We are available via text message at all times and of course, we are on-site too at times during your visit.
Most importantly, RELAX. Enjoy yourself and make yourself at home.
If you need assistance with something, just ask. If we are home, we would love to get to know you if you wish to visit, but we also respect our guests need for privacy. Our motto is to let our guests lead the amount of interaction they wish to have with us. Please know we are always approachable! If there is something you need that we have overlooked, please, please, please let us know right away. If we are available and able to help, we will.
