Acerca de este anuncio

One of five artist-made guest rooms in a recently renovated 1902-built hostel/B&B near Hawthorne, Belmont, Division & Downtown. Walking distance to variety of restaurants, bars, theaters, shops, grocery stores, parks & public transit. PRIVATE LUXURY BATHROOM & PATIO. Memory-foam queen bed. Kitchen, dining room & living room access.

El lugar

Tortoise Room gets its name from the giant tortoise mural adorning its wall. From the mind of graffiti artist CircleFace (who also designed Cornur Room, another of 1234 House's artist-built guest rooms), the space feels deep yet light, childlike yet knowing. The private bathroom (large shower with three shower heads and bidet toilet seat) and attached private patio make Tortoise Room convenient and luxurious. This is our only guest room on the main floor, so there is a bit more noise from people coming and going and hanging out in the living room or kitchen, FYI.

Tortoise Room is one of five guest rooms at 1234 House designed by a local artist. The house, built in 1902, was recently renovated from the ground up, with an eye toward art, community and providing a unique space for travelers to call home while visiting Portland.

Disponible para huéspedes

In addition to the room's private bathroom, there are two shared bathrooms, one on the main floor with a shower and one on the second floor with a clawfoot tub and tile mosaic wrapping the walls. Make use of the washer/dryer on the second floor. Relax on a giant chaise lounge in the living room or tinker on the red piano. Take a break from the restaurant crowds and make a meal in the kitchen. Sit at the 11-foot Doug-Fir-slab dining table.
Other features:
•Keyless number-code locks on front and bedroom doors
•Front outdoor patio with charcoal BBQ
•Digital projector in living

I live here. I'm Evan, 36, a native Portlander. I'm happy to chat or provide tips about the city. Also happy to go about my routine with little obtrusion.

Otros aspectos destacables

There is no off-street parking here. We live on a corner, so there is typically plenty of curbside parking in front of the house. A local church has a 40-spot parking lot across the street they make available to the public everyday but Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.

If you arrive before our 2 p.m. check-in, or when departing your travel plans are later than our 11 a.m. check-out, you're welcome to leave your luggage at the house where they'll be safe and head out on an outing, or you're more than welcome to hang out in the common areas of the house (kitchen, dining room, living room, front outdoor patio). Just leave your bags in the living room on the window seat.

Super cool interior to Evan's house. I stayed in the Tortoise Room, which looks just like the pictures and has a fabulous bathroom. It was more luxurious than I expected! There was a little bit of noise from people coming and going through the house, but it wasn't too noticeable. A great value!

Evan and his home are really wonderful. The room and house are comfortable and located in a great neighborhood (close to lots of good food, music, and bars, but quiet and peaceful on Evan's street). Evan made me feel at home immediately and had great suggestions for things to do. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Portland.

1234 House was great! Although we only stayed there for a night, we had a wonderful experience in the Tortoise Room (which, incidentally, has a bathroom outfitted with a Toto toilet and three shower heads - it was one of the most amazing shower experiences I've had in recent memory). The place was very easy to get to, and walking distance to lots of coffee shops and places to eat. Evan was super gracious and friendly. He offered us coffee, sparkling water, and food that he was making for a group meal. He also let me hang out in the common room (and listen to some of the amazing record collection) even though I arrived three hours early. The space has an eclectic vibe, with a piano and lots of knick knacks to peruse. Our room was ready well before check in. Once we were there, the number lock system on the doors was extremely convenient, as we didn't have to carry around keys. Upon checkout, we left our bags in the common space, and returned a few hours later to collect them. I would definitely recommend the Tortoise Room as a home based to anyone interested in exploring SE Portland.

I enjoyed my stay in the tortoise room! The place felt secure with locks on all doors and had a nice private bathroom and balcony. The room was spacious and had a nice desk as well. Evan was very friendly and communicated well.

Highly recommend the tortoise room to anyone! Very close to a lot of good breweries and restaurants, was able to walk mostly everywhere. The room itself is very nice, one of the best beds I've ever slept on as well!

My name is Evan. I'm a native Portlander who has lived, worked and traveled elsewhere but now feel fortunate to be living in my beautiful home town. I recently spent two years leading the complete renovation of this 1902-built house, and very much learning how to do it on the job. I enjoy playing music and going to local live shows, chatting on porches and taking walks in the neighborhood. I used to be a journalist and lived/worked as a writer in Lima, Peru several years ago. Now, running 1234 House is my primary focus.
