I stayed eight nights. Ben and his brother are nice enough, but the house is a disaster. He did warn me that the house was "old, and not that nice", but this wasn't a case of just being an old house. There are many similar wonderful old homes in the neighborhood, and this could easily be one of them. The property is poorly maintained, to say the least, and poorly kept. The kitchen and bathroom are disgusting. I didn't spend a lot of time there, and I'm not a germophobe, so I still had a great visit, but think most would run away screaming. Just long-standing dust everywhere. Filth. Stains. Rust. I asked for the iron and ironing board listed in the amenities. I got a blank stare like he wasn't sure what one was. I will say the room was relatively clean, as appeared to be the case with the bedding, and the one bath towel I was given. But there is no alarm clock. There is one light, and overhead light, and it is harsh. Not somewhere you would want to spend any significant time. I asked for hangers. There were none in the closet. He did manage to scrounge up a few. Access to the kitchen is listed as an amenity. There were no glasses or cups to use. I didn't see any plates. As far as I can tell, they only use disposable, and there weren't any there at the time. I asked if there were any paper napkins or paper towels. Nope. Though some paper towels did eventually show up. There was no hot water in the bathroom sink. I had to turn it on with the shutoff valve, and saw why it was turned off. It leaks. Not bad, but I just had to turn it on to shave, and turn it back off when I was done. There was hair everywhere in the bathroom, the only bathroom in the house, and it was clear it had not been cleaned in a very long time. Same with the kitchen. Regardless of price, this is all unacceptable if you are renting an airbnb. Have some pride. Hire a cleaning service to come in and do some deep cleaning if you're that lazy or busy. The neighborhood is fine. Seems very safe. Quiet. I will say it is quite far from any action, like downtown, the Wharf/Pier, Golden Gate Park, but that's not a fault. Just a heads up to anyone considering this room. But please, don't consider it. It should only be a last resort, and one you will not be happy with. As good a time as I had on my trip, and as much as I didn't let the many unacceptable drawbacks ruin my trip, I would never, for any reason, ever consider staying there again.
