A 7 minute walk to Warren St. this 4 room schoolhouse erected in 1900 has been renovated into 750 sq.ft.lofts and is located in the midst of one of the most gorgeous historic cemeteries in all of America.

El lugar

This is a no shoe room and we ask guests to respect the space accordingly. Built in 1900 this Craftsmen's 4 room School House is located in the midst of one of the most gorgeous historic cemeteries in all of America, and a short 7 minute walk into town. Tailored after the cemeteries in Europe, it was created as a park to entice visitors. Many Hudson River School Painters made this their final resting place as well as famous inventors and titans of Industry. It is verily like walking through a 3 D history lesson.
This particular room is our pride & joy. Built around a 18th century Opium Wedding bed, it is an artistic blend of Asian and contemporary design. We made the bathroom & kitchen out of steel & frosted glass.
We feel it is truly a spiritual space in complete harmony with the natural beauty of the surrounding park/cemetery.

Disponible para huéspedes

You will have access to this second story 750 sq.ft. classroom of the School House which has been converted into a studio loft space with a kitchen, bathroom, living space, 48" flat screen TV and authentic Chinese Wedding Bed (futon bed 80" x 50"). You also have access through the back door, to the fire escape landing and steps leading out to the Cemetery Park. On beautiful days you will encounter 3 cockatoos on the adjacent landing who will inquire about your health & well being and try to entice you to hang with them for a while (the whole day if they had their way) You are also welcome to use the washer & dryer ( or we would be happy to do a wash for you) located in the basement

Atención a los huéspedes

My partner and I use the other upstairs classroom as our studio apartment in the Summer. so we'll be around to help out or answer any questions. Ieva Mediodia is our Winter Artist in Residence, and she or her Husband will be available to help you when we're not here

Otros aspectos destacables

This a classroom with many large eastern facing windows, making it a very bright space early in the morning ...but we have placed a screen by the bed to help shield the early morning light. We thought long & hard about whether or not to add curtains/shades and decided the light is too glorious to hide and most guests agree but we're open to more input. It is still dark at night for those who like sleeping in total darkness. Also important to note is that the bed is an authentic futon and is 50" x 80"

Laura Ann's place was absolutely stunning. Felt like stepping into a Vogue Living article! Communication was great, the location was ideal, the space was immaculately clean & charming to boot. The perfect overnight location. Thank you, Laura Ann!

We had the best time here! We were only able to stay one night but would definitely stay here again. We walked all around the cemetery in the morning, it was so beautiful! The place was so clean, and Laura's birds were an added bonus. She brought us homemade cakes for breakfast. This place is a dream xo

Staying here was unique because the location, design and art were so interesting. Very comfortable and much more fun than a typical hotel. Laura Ann was a wonderful host.

We really enjoyed our stay here! Both Laura Ann and her friend Charlie were incredibly welcoming (picking us up from the train station and being incredibly flexible). The place was clean and well maintained and very comfortable!

My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Laura Ann's place! Firstly, she was very helpful and responsive to questions before we arrived. We let ourselves into the apartment and were blown away by the beautiful and unique interior. Laura Ann welcomed us in person a little later and introduced us to her adorable pet cockatoo! We slept really well, and the bathroom was nice and clean. Central Hudson is indeed walkable, but you can also take a 5 minute Uber or taxi ride. I would recommend Laura Ann's place to anyone.

My Girlfriend and I stayed with Laura Ann at the Art Estate in the Asian Room. We were just doing an overnight trip, and very quickly realized we would be coming back for a longer stay. The Room is big. High ceilings, bright with an amazing view down the hill. Laura Ann is a very gracious host, giving us all the information we needed for our stay and leaving us to explore to our hearts content. Warren Street is a short walk from the building, and is packed with great restaurants, antique stores, and galleries. When we got back to Laura Ann's after our day out, we discovered she had left muffins out for us for the next morning. We will be booking again!

Heartily recommend this wonderful, funky, and unique space. It's a beautiful, expansive room with a kitchen, cool bathroom, and a great bed. Well-situated, just outside of Hudson. Laura, the owner, is incredibly kind and her cockatoo has a great sense of humor. Check-in and check-out were both very easy.
