Our house is at the end of a quiet road, set in the forest of the beautiful Waitakere Ranges. We have a large outdoor deck and gardens, a gorgeous spa pool, new orchard, lounging chairs and dining tables, and lots of indoor and outdoor games.
Our house (available for your complete private use) includes four bedrooms, a lounge, a study / gym, a large dining room, chef's kitchen, three bathrooms, a large deck area, private spa pool, and two large lawns. See more details below, and please don't hesitate to ask us any questions.
The large master bedroom is on its own level upstairs, with a super-comfortable queensize recovered swamp kauri sleigh bed, ensuite bathroom (with forest views), large built-in wardrobe, and a balcony with views over the ranges, and for breathing in the fresh morning air. We keep our massage table up here too.
There is a queen sized bed, sofa, large built-in wardrobe, and views of the garden. Heat pump included. On one side of this bedroom is the large second bathroom. To the other side is our study / gym, and exit to the decks, spa-pool and garden.
This room has a comfortable king single bed, and is also the children's playroom, so has most of the toys in the house. These include a piano, and lots of lego, cars, trains, track, drawing material, etc. It also has a pretty view of the garden, and gets the morning sun. Please note that this room is off the dining room, and does not have a door to close it off.
A quiet room with a single bed and a cot, which, with sides up, is suitable for a baby/toddler. The sides can be removed to make it suitable for a child up to 5 years.
Study / Gym:
Contains an exercise bike, swiss ball, weights, and one solid ex-New Zealand Railways desk! This room can also be used as a private work space.
This is next to the second bedroom, and includes a power shower, large triangular bath (with complimentary bubbles), toilet, and long vanity.
The guest bathroom, with toilet and vanity in separate rooms.
The kitchen is the perfect place for preparing lovely meals. Includes a Bosch induction hob, Bosch double-oven, Bosch dishwasher, side-by-side fridge freezer, microwave, Kenwood Chef mixer, Breville 'The Boss' blender, espresso machine, and a fully stocked pantry. Feel free to use anything you find in the pantry, please just replace anything you completely use up with a similar item. Ditto the fridge and freezer. Glass roofed for sky views and lots of light.
Eight-seater oak dining table, upholstered dining chairs, Living Flame gas fire, heat pump, relaxing sofa, and a Washburn acoustic guitar (free for you to use). Double French doors open to the deck, and outdoor dining table and chairs.
Three-seater and two-seater dark brown leather sofas, coffee table, ottoman, Sony big screen TV, Onkyo music system with Mirage speakers, lots of CDs, heat pump, and a bookcase with masses of boardgames, books, and local guidebooks. Terrestrial TV, and a Living Flame gas fire for cosy winter evenings.
The massive deck, stretching round three sides of the house, includes a beautifully comfortable wicker eight-seater lounge suite (with cushions), with two coffee tables, and an ice box, to keep your drinks cool.
Towards the kitchen is a matching eight-seater glass-top dining table, with wicker dining chairs (with cushions), and sliding window access to the kitchen.
The rest of the deck includes a high breakfast table and high chairs, and lots of planter boxes and pots with fruit, vegetables and herbs (all of which you are welcome to use) and flowers.
Just outside the gym and second bedroom is the top-of-the-range seven-seater, Hot Springs Vista spa pool, with 47 jets, water feature, and colour-changing lights. Totally Dubai. We love it, and use it every night. You probably will too!
The upper lawn is close to the kitchen, and is the perfect place to let the kids play, while still in sight. We have swingball, boules, tennis rackets, tennis balls, footballs, football goals, lawn darts, and lots more. Includes a divinely comfortable, suspended-chair sky lounger.
Steps lead down from the upper lawn to the lower main lawn, ideal for the kids to run around in and wear themselves out, and surrounded by forest for them to explore (yet still safe, as although the garden is screened by trees, there are super-friendly neighbours in all directions)
Simon is a keen gardener, so there are plenty of plants to find, some natives, some exotics, and lots of palm trees. Feel free to deadhead the flowers! There is a small fishpond (with three shy goldfish), and further to the back of the house, a 50-tree, newly-planted orchard. Help yourself to any fruit you find!
Garage and hall cupboard:
These are full of useful things, free for you to use, including: two body-boards (the surf on the west coast beaches is amazing): An aluminium and front-shocked Alumax mountain bike with slick tyres (Scenic Drive is the place in Auckland to road cycle, but off-road tyres are also available): A kids trainer bike: A set of Dunlop Max 357 golf irons and putter, with a Spalding Powershaft three wood, bag, trolley, balls, etc., (most courses are open to non-members, and not at all expensive). I have also sunk a hole in the top lawn for putting practice (if the grass is short enough), or you can use the bottom lawn for fairway practice, but please replace the divots, and clean the clubs after you use them! We also have full camping gear, and lots more.
Our playroom is full of toys and games for kids of all ages. The garden is plenty big enough to run around in, with forest to explore at the edges, yet still close at hand and safe, and we have lots of outdoor games for the kids to try. The Arataki Visitor Centre (1 minute drive) has a kids indoor play area for rainy days, and shorter bush walks for little ones that get tired and bored easily, plus coffee and yummy ice creams at the finish! The nearest playground is 5 minutes drive away, and the nearest beach is 10. There is a good indoor swimming complex 20 minutes away, and lots of little attractions the kids might like. I don't think you'll be lost for things to do for the little ones :)

We (Charlotte and Simon) love travelling, and have stayed in a number of Airbnb places around the world, which gave us the idea to rent out our own places. Charlotte grew up in Auckland, and Simon moved here from the UK in the 90s. Auckland is our home, and we think it is a beautiful city, with lots to see and do.
We have two listings: a one bedroom apartment in the CBD with beautiful views of the harbour and the city, and our large family home in West Auckland, on the edge of the Waitakere Ranges forest. We love sharing both of our places with our guests.
During your stay we are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about activities and getting around, either in the city or wider Auckland, or in the forest or beach in the wild and beautiful west.
We stay in both places when they are not used by Airbnb guests, so we ensure the places are clean and everything is working well. This means, however, that they are not empty of personal items like a hotel, but we make every effort to ensure there is ample room for your belongings.
If you have any issues, concerns or complaints at all during your stay please contact us straight away so that we can address them for you quickly.
