I can't imagine a warmer, more hospitable couple than Ruth and Norman. My three boys enjoyed feeding their chickens and fell in love with their two dogs. The rooms we stayed in were beautiful and spotless, and the beds luxurious and comfortable. Ruth's breakfasts were delicious and included eggs from their chickens and jam she'd made herself. Norman's homemade wine and Ruth's strawberry shortcake (Norm's mother's secret recipe) were equally delectable. But above all, we appreciated Ruth and Norman's friendly conversation and laid back manner.

From the moment we met Norm and Ruth we were welcomed with warm hospitality. They provided us with wonderful delicious breakfasts, and a lovely, comfortable home. They were so kind to our granddaughters, even going the extra mile to meet the dietary needs of one. We were given many great suggestions to help us plan our stay, so enjoyed the animals, the art studio, and the conversations. This was the nicest B&B we have ever visited.

Perfectly situated, Ruth and Norm's charming farmhouse and studio is tucked into a quiet scenic road, surrounded by riling hills, yet just minutes from the Hopewell Rocks and other delights of the Bay of Fundy coast. They are gracious hosts and charming folks, welcoming us with wine and cheese, introducing us to their alpacas, and settling us into a cozy, well-appointed bedroom. A perfect final evening for our trip and wish we could have stayed a while...

In the movie "Field of Dreams" starring Kevin Costner, there is an oft-quoted line: John (Ray's father, a ghost): Is this heaven? Ray (Kevin Costner): It's Iowa. I've been to Dyersville, IA and have run the bases. It is a beautiful spot. Norm and Ruth's place put it to shame. The moment we arrived, we knew that we were in a special place and being hosted by special people. Norm and Ruth greeted us with such warmth that it was like coming home to family - a feeling that only strengthened during our four days with them. With a glass of Norm's homemade pinot noir in hand (why go to Napa? It's excellent!) we quickly got to chatting, looking at the chickens and alpacas, and Sable, their australian sheepdog, found a sucker who would repeatedly toss her frisbee. It was incredibly heartwarming to see how Norm and Ruth indulged my 2 year old daughter. She LOVES farms and animals and before I had gotten up on our first morning there, Norm was already showing her the animals, letting her "help", and giving her rides on his bike (4-wheel ATV). Then she would scamper over to the apple tree in the front yard with an antique picking ladder and climb up. Then she would go "help" Ruth plant her annuals. This truly was our home in Canada. And the breakfasts! Oh my goodness the breakfasts. I'm not a breakfast person. I ate A LOT of breakfast thanks to Ruth. Her spinach, bacon, mushroom, cheesy omelets were perfectly done; the banana/chocolate chip waffles were in a class of their own and defy comparison; and everything is locally-sourced, organic, and oftentimes produced right there on their farm! For example, their exceptionally rich eggs are from their chickens, Ruth makes her own preserves, the sausages come from the nearby butcher who raises his own livestock, and her neighbors - a young couple I did not get a chance to meet :-( - supplied the wood-fired maple syrup - the best I've tasted (and I've spent a lot of time in Vermont). Oh, and aside from being a master vintner (Norm grows some of his grapes behind the house), Norm is an accomplished painter. His style is in the vein of Remington, Bierstadt, the Hudson River School (my opinion). In other words, my favorites! I had the privilege to view his studio and though Norm insisted that I need not buy anything, I insisted and now have a Bradford lithograph in my collection! Our conversations were light and fun, deep and thoughtful, and I feel that I benefited greatly from their knowledge, philosophies, and life experiences. The rooms are immaculate and spacious. My daughter had her own bed. I got to see area in the back that Norm is clearing, enjoyed a bonfire with them on our last night, and had the privilege to meet Sara-with-no-h, Patrick, and Ryan. FarmLife Studio is not just a room, it is a destination - a true home-away-from-home.

Thank you so much, Adam! You brought great joy to my heart in reading your posting. You all were delightful and so easy to be with. You love life and you enjoy and appreciate the little things and the simple things. It makes it a pleasure to serve you and share our time with you. Everyone here agrees. I will share your posting with all here. I know that they will be so pleased. Norm just read your post and had tears in his eyes (I did too but I thought that it was just me). You and your family became very dear to us and we hope this closeness will continue. for a long time. Big hugs to you, Michelle and Jackie from all of us.

Ruth and Norm are the greatest hosts. Their place is in a wonderful location, close to the sights you want to see but also quiet and away from the hustle and bustle. This was a great spot for our little toddler who has tons of energy and just needed to run. The animals and the open space kept him busy and entertained. The breakfast that Norm and Ruth provided was delicious. All organic and some fresh right from the garden which we really appreciated. We would recommend this Place to anyone staying in the area and looking for some quiet and some good company.

Ruth and Norm are simply wonderful hosts. We stayed in their house for 3 days together with our 3 children. We felt at home from the very first moment. They both made so much effort to make our stay pleasant. They took care, showed us their beautiful garden, the farm, and made sure that our visit will be good and positive throughout all our stay. Our children and us had a wonderful time in the garden, playing with their lovely dogs, Alpaca's and chickens. We felt so comfortable with their attention and the beautiful environment, that we did not want to leave. After 3 days we felt that we have new friends. Ruth and Norm prepared a different type of breakfast every morning, and everything was so delicious for all of us... Thank you so much for having great time together!

Norm and I live in a hundred year old farm house high on a hill. We love animals and people. Norm enjoys painting, hiking, cooking and fishing. Ruth volunteers and is on the board of several organizations. She is an avid organic gardener. They love to travel and enjoy foods. Norm makes his own wine and loves old movies. Ruth loves cooking and is an award winning pickle and jam maker. We love staying at B&Bs and learning about the areas we are visiting. Healthy lifestyle is important to both. We like to take the time to enjoy life.
