Large 2 room apartment in a downtown historic building. The bedroom has a king size bed among a collection of landscapes. The living room/ kitchen combo area has a fold down sofa for sleeping as well as a collection of artwork and vintage items.
The apartment is located at the back of the 3rd floor of a four story historic building in downtown Lexington. Both areas, living room and bedroom are for this listing only. The kitchen/living area is not shared by other guests. There is a heavy drape across the hall for privacy. Both areas can be locked by the residing guest. The 3rd-floor deck is also for the guests of this listing as well. Other guests are notified that they are not to use the back door unless there is an emergency.
Originally a classroom building of Campbell Hagerman College for Women built in 1905. The building has undergone several transformations over the years. In the 1940's there was a housing shortage and the building was converted into 27 studio apartments. We have combined the apartments so now there are 10 units in the building.
This studio for Airbnb guests is decorated with some of my own personal artwork and pieces by other local artists. I used reclaimed wood in the kitchen and bathroom to warm up the spaces in a way that only wood can do.
The elevator is up and running.
The 4th floor is sold and occupied by a single lady. This room is below her living room so you can hear footsteps. There are 4 other studio apartments on the 3rd floor. These 3rd-floor rooms are all part of a single floor condo plan.
No Smoking of any substance is allowed inside the building. A flower pot with sand has been placed on the deck for butts. Please do not throw the butts down into the yard or patio below.
Disponible para huéspedes
The front porch is available with chairs as well. Laundry facilities are in the basement, 2 washers and 2 dryers.
Atención a los huéspedes
I live in the building and can help with navigating Lexington. I want my guests to have a pleasant stay and will be available to assist with any issues that might arise.

The building is over 100 years old so noises travel. We do our best to choose tenants who are respectful of others. Even with that in mind, until the lady on the 4th floor learns to levitate, the floors will continue to creak. She goes to bed a respectable hour. I have placed a sound machine in the room to help block noise. I am not saying that there is constant noise by any means, I just want to be up front to avoid bad reviews.
There is a good crew of monthly renters in the building, they are screened to ensure a peaceful living environment. Quiet hours are strictly enforced (10pm on weekdays, 11pm on weekends), large gatherings are discouraged as are loud sounds from TV's and stereo equipment. No loud talking in hallways. Please only use elevator after 11 PM if absolutely necessary. It is loud and may disturb tenants in adjacent apartments. No smoking of cigarettes or other substances inside the building. No Exceptions. Smoking is allowed on the front porch where I have placed a flower pot full of sand for the butts. Please do not litter my yard :).

Since graduating from college in Wilmore, Kentucky in the 80's, I have been mostly in Lexington pursing a career as a non-objective contemporary artist. I also work on renovations of historic buildings. I'm a big fan of recycling and re-purposing.
