beautiful space, can be rented either separately or jointly with the adjoining apartment for larger groups. The 2 apartments share a lovely roof garden equipped with dining facilities overlooking beautiful Xemxija Bay with a penthouse type experience
The Space is not a holiday apartment but a comfortable eco friendly home lived in by the owner when on the island, with all the mod cons, including jacuzzi, gym machine, large 50 inch 3 D tv. It has a carbon neutral footprint, with ample solar energy. It has a comfortable roof terrace ideal for dining or just enjoying the magnificent sea and country views in a quiet residential area of Xemxija. If you need extra chairs on the roof terrace, use the ones you have in the living room.
There is an extra mattress for a fourth person, that could be placed either in the living room. Or it could be placed in the second bedroom, which is however rather small, and that is why the apartment is listed with a second single bedroom. So in theory it can take 5 persons, not 4: one double bedroom with large queen size matrimonial bed and high grade memory foam mattress, single bedroom, sofa and extra mattress.
The Roof is shared by guests occupying flat 6 and flat 9, and has a large table with chairs and a swinging bench.
The apartment is equipped with an automatic gas powered water heater installed on the roof. Give it a few seconds to warm up. The tap should be open enough for water to run with a good flow for the pilot light of the gas heater to come on. You do not need to switch on any water heater in the apartment. Should you take a bath, just increase the water temperature from the controls on the kitchen wall. But the ideal shower temperature on the regulator should be around 40 degrees.
While I try to follow a full eco friendly infrastructure in my apartments, I have found that the best combination is photovoltaic panels for electricity and a gas boiler for water heating. This is because solar water heating is less eco than people think. It requires a back electricity element to ensure there is hot water at all times for guests. But is can also be a health hazard if the water temperature drops because it can encourage the growth of legionaires' disease. So instant gas powered water heating is the best solution all around, and actually uses far less energy than a solar water heater.
100 metres down the road you can take a walk into the countryside, with the woodland in Mizieb, the valleys of Pwales and Mistra and the old Roman road all the way along the ridge to the Western tip of the island that, with a very pleasant 1 hour walk leads to the Majjistral Park and the Ghajn Tuffieha Conservation area, both part of a Natura 2000 site. It is 2 minutes walk down to Xemxija Bay.
