If you like Japanese things, this space is perfect for you! The space is an 8-mat tatami room (144 sq. ft. + an area for luggage) filled with Japanese books, magazines, plushies, and ambiance. The room is in a loft in Downtown LA, about 8 blocks from Little Tokyo and less than a mile and a half to LA Live / Staples Center / LA Convention Center (Anime Expo, etc.).
NOTE: I've stated that there's a 4 person maximum for the tatami room, BUT I've also had 8 people in the loft itself before. 4 is the ideal max for the room itself, but 8 can be accommodated if people bring sleeping bags or are ok sleeping outside of but near the tatami room. Of course, if everyone brings a sleeping bag, up to 8 people could theoretically sleep in the tatami room at the same time. Each of the 8 mats is 3'x6'. Message me if you're interested in having more than 4 people in the room. *** And so...if you're a Japanophile, this space is perfect for you! The space is an 8-mat tatami room (144 sq. ft. + an extra area for luggage) filled with Japanese books, magazines, plushies, etc. The room is in a loft in Downtown LA, about 8 blocks from little Tokyo and less than a mile and a half to LA Live / Staples Center / LA Convention Center. I use the space as a photography studio generally and have kigurumi and some costumes you may borrow to shoot your own photos (let me know if they're to be used commercially).
Disponible para huéspedes
The restroom and kitchen are in the main part of the loft and you're welcome to use either as you like, including the fridge, stove, microwave, blender, toaster, and oven. I also have a projector that you can probably use, though please ask me.
Atención a los huéspedes
I'm a friendly host and would be happy to hang out / drink with you if you like! Of course, your time here in LA is yours, so feel free to treat it as just lodging too if you prefer. I'll probably be in the loft itself most of the time but will not enter your area unless requested. I've lived in LA for five years and can give you recommendations on things to eat, see, and do in the general LA area. If I have time, I might also be able to play tour guide for you.
Otros aspectos destacables
Loft has two skylights but no windows (loft is one of two in the center of the building).
The tatami room is blocked off with Japanese screens, but there are no lockable doors to the "room." The loft itself has both a wooden door and a metal screen door and is quite secure.
There is wifi but otherwise poor cellphone reception in the space (I recommend turning on Calling Over Wifi).
I have a cat that may be around, and I'll try to keep her out of your space (but I'm ok to share her with you!).
Check-in is generally after 7pm on weekdays, but more flexible weekends. Just ask.
No shoes on the tatami mats. Slippers will be provided for walking through the rest of the space.
420 friendly! Close restroom door before smoking.
Quiet hours are after 11pm weekdays and 2am weekends.
Note that this might look like a kids room, but it most definitely is not. There are some tasteful but otherwise boudoir photos (shot by me) in the main living area, but I can take them down if you don't want to see them.

Hi! Tommy here. I lived in Japan for a few years, decided to make a space that would remind me of being there, and this is the result!
I'm not realllly an otaku or weeb, but I'm ok if you are! I just like specific Japanese things, like Yotsuba, Rilakkuma, Japanese photographers, the fashion of Harajuku and Shibuya, and of course all the food! Love Attack on Titan and playing P5 and Kingdom Hearts.
Anyway, hope you enjoy your stay if you decide to rent my room!
