We had such a magical stay at the Owl House! from the first moment Shigeki and Francois (who helped with translating!) helped make our stay wonderful. They helped us plan our trip in the area by providing great information including maps, guides, timetables of local bus, etc. The lodge is in a beautiful remote area with a gorgeous view of the sea. We were lucky enough to go snowshoeing on the grounds in the morning before our tour of Ine and Amanohashidate. The meals were delicious (and big!), prepared and served with care. We especially enjoyed the Japanese-style bath on site. They even took their time to help me locate my lost cell phone and have it sent to our next stop. It was such a joy to spend two nights at the Owl House and meet such kind and gracious people. We left feeling so relaxed. Don't hesitate to book this place!!

This place is in a beautiful location! I stayed here in winter and the snow made the landscape look so nice. When the clouds cleared you could see the coast and ocean from way up on the mountains (and the place is wayy up). There is a bus that will bring you into town (either to Ine or Amanohashidate) in about 45 minutes. I recommend going to both places as they are stunning. Shigeki was very helpful and accomodating. The room was very big and traditional, and the heater was great. I would love to visit again if I get the chance!

I highly recommend to be a guest of these lovely people at the Owl House. I travelled on my own and needed a guide to visit Kinosaki, Amanohashidate and Ine. Shigeki and his volunteer Francois showed me three days the area I could have never experienced without them. During this time I learned a lot about Japanese culture and we just went to delicious spots for lunch and dinner. We also went fishing together - you can easily find wild oysters. (Try them, if it is the right season.) The fish was prepared for dinner one night by Shigeki's mother. Delicious menu! I came as stranger and left as friend! I wish I could come back one time to see this stunning landscape and my friends again!

Place is amazing, it is in the top of the mountain. Morning view will take ur breath away. There is a small fisherman village close by which is very beautiful. But beyond the place is the food! Dinner is superb and it already include in the price. Shigeki also very warm and friendly. He teach us a lot of thing, We have a great chat until very late night .We have very good time there. Of course 5 stars.Recommended!!

The place is deep in the mountain, very quite and beautiful, good for nature type of tourists or outdoor barbecue seekers. Inside is the most spacious traditional tatami room I've ever stayed. Food is amazing, both breakfast(extra) and dinner(included). Definitely recommend their one day tour around the area, I've got to see Ine, tried sake, listen to local stories, try fishing and Host-Shigeki San even drove around the area for me to catch Pokemon, got my Pikachu thanks to him:) there is an English/French speaker there, so communication was easy.

I cannot express enough how great this Air BnB was. It was even the beautiful home on the mountain top. Shigeki was the most helpful and generous person I met on my entire trip to Japan! He knew all the local spots, gave great travel advice, and went that extra mile out of his way for us (literally, he picked us up and drove us to our next destination) The photos and description on the website does not do this place justice because it is so much more. I would choose this place over a top hotel any day. Food was delicious, and presented beautifully. Very fresh and a sense of home in the meal. A very well needed break from the city food. After spending one night there, I could only regret not spending more time there. They have beautiful nature trails and mini atvs to take around. Overall, Shigeki and Francois' generosity made my stop (Ine de Funaya/Boat Houses of Japan) to the countryside the top highlight of the trip. I highly recommend anyone to have their stay here. Especially if you are checking out sites close by. (Sand Bar/amanohashidate or Little Venice of Japan/ Ineno Funaya)
