Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with dreamy views over beautiful Dorset countryside, Chisel Barn, a new conversion designed and fitted to the highest standards, consists of two properties that can be rented separately or together. 'Whites Ground' sleeps six, with secure garden and lovely, large family room.
We converted this barn three years ago and have been delighted with the reviews and feedback from our guests. This is Whites Ground, one half of the barn (which consists of two, light and airy properties that, if rented together, will accommodate ten people), and it is situated in an AONB in the the beautiful Dorset countryside between Blandford and Shaftesbury. Both properties are single storey, with a large, double height kitchen and living space.
Whites Ground is furnished to a high standard throughout and offers spacious, contemporary decorated accommodation, although the property retains original features including exposed beams. The large living space containing a raised wood burner is adaptable for all sorts of activities and age groups. We often have groups of friends renting the barns for craft weekends, or book groups.
Being on one floor the barn is fantastically suited for young families, and with notice we can provide cot, travel cot, steriliser, bed guards, bath toys and a small range of books, dvds and toys.
There are three bedrooms. The master bedroom with a super king size bed (optionally configured as two single beds) has an en-suite shower room. Two further bedrooms, one twin , one super king size (again optionally configurable as twins) and a bathroom with wc, bath and separate shower.
Lastly a utility room with washer and dryer.
Disponible para huéspedes
The barn is set in stunning countryside and offers far reaching views from the furnished terrace over the River Stour valley, the dairy pastures of the Blackmore Vale, the churches of Shillingstone and Child Okeford to the south and west, and the Iron Age forts of Hambledon Hill to the north and Hod Hill to the east. A short walk across the farm takes you through a wood and past a lake to the excellent amenities of Child Okeford, or up the steep slopes to the top of Hambledon Hill where, on a clear day, there are views for many miles. Hambledon Hill is a classic example of an Iron Age hill fort and is now a National Nature Reserve famous for its wild flowers.
The barns were the base for a large and successful dairy enterprise and remain part of a working farm, with the adjoining buildings still used for rearing young stock.
The garden and terrace are completely enclosed and safe for dogs who we welcome with prior notice. There is access to our fields and pond, and Table Tennis in the adjacent barn. A BBQ is provided.

We moved to our farm in Dorset fourteen years ago. I love the countryside, good local produce, cooking and bridge. When we go on holiday we like to walk and take our dogs and want to provide that for others. We want our guests to feel that they have found something special in the fabulous Dorset countryside. We like guests to enjoy their holiday un-pestered, but are full of information and help whenever they need it. The barn is a fantastic adaptable space for crafters, bridge players, young families and just friends.
