The place is just as clean & nice as described and we spent a very nice night on the comfortable mattress. There's no dryer for clothes there but the nearest coin dryer is just 1 minute away outside the door on foot. Overall, neat & great place and with the warm care from Tockey, it's a even better choice for people travelling by.

I enjoyed my stay at Tokie's place. It was very clean and cozy. The bathroom and the bunk beds were quite clean, too. Even though I only get to talk to Tokie at one night, she was very welcoming and friendly. We had great chats about traveling around that area. Overall, I would definite recommend her place and would definitely go back to stay there once I have the opportunity to visit Osaka again. Many thanks, Tokie. Best Kai

I was early when I arrived at the guesthouse. One of the guests greeted me and showed me the place, and I left my bags in the living room while waiting for the check in time. The place itself is wonderful, the room smelled really nice of grass. I was not too sure what it was, but was told that it was the well cared for tatami mats that gave off the relaxing fragrance. The host lives away from the guesthouse but is incredibly friendly and organized things for all the days that I was there. I tagged along and it was a lot of fun, with activities lined up that regular tourists would not be able to do. I also made great friends despite living only for 3 nights. So if you're a backpacker, this is the place to go. The downside of this place is that I was a little intimidated by the housekeeper, who was not asking me questions but interrogating me. I feared for my safety that night as he had way too much to drink and was behaving very oddly. It is just my experience. The housekeeper might be different at the time of your booking.

Tokie is an amazing host! She's extremely warm, nice and welcoming, and is always attentive to your needs. She will do everything in her power to help you out, and she's definitely one of the most dedicated hosts that I've ever seen. Moreover she also organizes a lot of fun gatherings/events for guests to mingle with each other, which is definitely a plus if you enjoy social events! The room was extremely clean, the bed was really comfortable, and the living room is just amazing, it's like a typical Japanese living room with a kotatsu-ish table. There's also a washing machine for the guests to use, which is really awesome. The neighborhood is extremely convenient, there's a shopping street that you can buy food, as well as many convenience stores at like 5-7 of walking distance from the guest house. Moreover, it takes 12-15 mins to get to the nearest train station, but that train station is only ONE STATION AWAY from Osaka Station, which is extremely convenient if you wanna travel around in Kansai. If you want to visit Kyoto/Kobe/Nara (or even West of Kansai), this is definitely the right place for you to stay. The house is also 2 minutes away from the riverside, filled with cherry blossoms trees, and it's absolutely gorgeous in March/April! Even for someone likes me who prefers to have a room all by himself, I really enjoyed the experience and I would recommend this place to anyone travelling to Osaka.

Hi, I'm Tokie.

I was born and grew up in Osaka,
and I live in Osaka for more than 90 % of my life.

I have lived in Australia and Sweden before and traveled in Europe, North and Central America and South East Asia.

Now I live in Tenjinbashi and Tenma area, which is the best local area in Osaka.
Tenjinbashisuji has the longest shopping street in Japan, where we can find cheap and good stuff and it's the best place to hang out.

Now I work as an English teacher and a tour guide in Osaka.

I love to meet local people when I travel because I can learn more about the country and people.

I'd love to show you around in my city and I can offer these activities as well in Osaka,

Market tour
Cooking class
Stone seal craft
Pottery class
Tea ceremony
Tea field trip
Farming Experience
Flower arrangement
Manga lesson
Wagashi (Japanese sweets) making
Martial arts class

and so on !!

Please let me know what you would like to see and try in Osaka and Japan,
and hope you'll have a great time while traveling in Japan :)
