Never have I been made to feel so welcomed into someone's home than with Carlos and Joy. Opening their hearts and home to my friend and I, we're thankful we chose them. Upon arrival, Carlos and Joy greeted us, helped us settle in, and began to give us restaurant and nightlife recommendations with directions included. Settling in, we took in the architecture of the home and artwork on the walls. The house is absolutely beautiful, filled with antique furniture, paintings, and recycled decorative pieces from Joy. There are three rooms on the AirBnb side of the house and luckily for the first leg of our trip, the two other rooms had wonderful guests we were able to connect with. As we were making plans to go out with the other guests, Carlos and Joy invited all of us over to their side of the house for a view of the evening sky from the rooftop. The conversation flowed so well, it felt like the talks between friends you've known for years. For our second leg of the trip(after a few days on another island), we ended up having the entire airbnb side to ourselves, which felt disappointing at first. However, this gave my friend and I the opportunity to get to know our hosts better. They would come visit during breakfast, invite us to tag along with them for a day and grab lunch together(along with the cats we shared our meals with), and have more open conversations with us than most people I know are willing to have. That’s what spoke to me the most during our trip. There’s a rare light that shines within them that most people in the US have let fade within themselves. It’s an authenticity that can be seen in their eyes and smiles, and felt through their words and actions. This review may not speak to the house in detail, but the true experience of travel is felt through the people you meet. Thank you again, Carlos and Joy. Your warmth and positive outlook made a significant impact on our stay. Until next time!
