Unfortunately the listing description was not accurate. There are two bedrooms (not four) sleeping two in one room through which those in the second - containing four double beds and a single - must walk. Only one bathroom (with shower) was operational; however the light was not working. The pool (a farm dam) was not usable as it was full of algae/slime. Morning coffee on the lovely veranda was peaceful as promised, but the four dogs unfortunately howled and barked throughout the night beneath the bedroom windows. Budget around half an hour for the the very rough 3km dirt road and leave the sedan at home. Best also to leave small kids at home as the lovely, but very big, dogs are boisterous in the extreme. Decor is an eclectic mix of Zen Buddhism and Christian ( with every surface covered with icons, candles, ornaments, photos and paintings); olde world farmhouse - and modern kitchen appliances. There are some stunning items of old furniture, all dominated by Tretchikoff paintings and family photographs. However, the farmhouse appears to be a work in progress. Be aware that the owner moves out (hurriedly, it seems) for guests, so don't expect the usual freshly laundered towels or linens on beds, or cupboard space to unpack. There is a pool table and TV, and a trampoline outside. Ideal for groups: perhaps an ideal destination for fire and trance-dance parties? Or a group yoga retreat where participants can enjoy a dormitory-type sleeping arrangement.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Angelique's guest house. Despite initial confusion regarding pricing, it suited our purpose of a girls weekend perfectly. If couples wanted to stay, however, the description of 4 bedrooms is ambiguous as most of the beds are in one big room. Having the full house to ourselves and with help from the friendly staff, we were able to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. All in all great weekend away.
We had a great chat with Angelique that really got us excited about coming to stay at her place. The farmhouse has a lovely kitchen where we made great food and then ate together all very cosily. Angelique offered that we could use the supplies in her cupboards which was very kind. It really felt like her home was opened up to us, and not a guesthouse. The beds were great - a huge room with four double beds and singles - we went over with three couples and our kids - sleeping together was great fun. Later in the evening the lounge provided a cosy place to play games into the night. The splash pool was amazing for the kids and adults! Angelique and McKenzie and his wife were very helpful and available and lovely. Great to have them there. The verandah took us back to old days of sitting on the stoep and gazing to the horizon - loved it. Thanks Angelique, we would love to come back ....
Angelique's farm is really beautiful! It's a lovely property not far out of town with beautiful gardens, great games (darts, pool etc), and an excellent veranda for sitting outside in the morning. The house has beds for 11 people, large kitchen and dining areas and is evidently set up to accommodate large families and groups of friends. Angelique is super friendly, as well as extremely helpful and prompt in her replies to my inquiries.
Angelique was a very friendly, accommodating and lovely host!! She took great care of us and we felt very welcomed right from the beginning. The estate is very impressing, safe and has an amazing view. If you love dogs, this is the right place for you! We would alway love to come back :-)
