First, the positive. The house is charming and decorated with lots of interesting pictures, knick knacks, and historical memorabilia. The location is ideal for hiking and the river behind the property is perfect for dipping your toes or entertaining your dog. The house is central to shopping, day trips and water ways. The deck is amazing for morning and evening relaxing along with the tables and chairs provided. There was indeed a yummy loaf of bread and a nice bottle of red as a complimentary gift. Please know that there isn't air conditioning in the house which was fine for us because the nights were cool enough and there were many fans available. However, should someone stay in very warm weather, they should be advised of the no A/C factor. However, the property was not ready by 4pm as advertised. It wasn't really ready until sometime after 5pm. We were tired and had driven a long way and were forced to kill some time while the cleaning person rushed around trying to ready the house. We understood from what we were told there was some kind of roof leak, which accident do postpone things. The house needs a deep cleaning. We appreciated the fact that we could bring our dog and our expectations were realistic in terms of cleanliness. Nevertheless, there was considerable dust, the drapes were blackened with dirt and we found it necessary to do a little cleaning before we could settle in. The lawn wasn't mowed and the outside looked neglected. The house was better stocked then we imagined and we made use of a percolator, pots and pans and an array of household items. The sliding door in the dining room does not lock which caused concern when we left the place. A few of the other doors within the home did not close and/or lock. In short, should the maintenance of the house and property improve, we would happily return. Left as is, we would not. The password for wifi was not readily available and we had to call someone to get it. That about covers our experience. Thanks.

It was fantastic news that Deborah had a great time at the Emerald House. We are very happy that she found the house to be in the perfect location and the back porch facing the river offering spectacular relaxation. However, we must disagree with her assessment of the cleanliness of the Emerald. The housekeeper called at 3pm and said that Deborah arrived an hour early and she will offer Deborah to stay or come back at scheduled check in time at 4pm. Additionally, if there is something amiss in the house, such as a leak, it is our contention that all problems must be addressed immediately. We are sorry that Deborah thought that she was inconvenienced by this brief one hour repair in order to make her stay perfect. Ironically, Deborah's dog had left hair all over the house, which required hours of additional cleaning after her stay. Due to Deborah's leaving the house in an inconsiderate condition, we must now charge an additional $25 dollars for cleaning. A complete Adirondack Emerald handbook was sent to Deborah prior to her arrival which detailed the Wifi password and the locking bar on the back door. Our telephone, email, and text is available with a documented less than one hour return call. If Deborah had any issues, we would have much appreciated it if she notified her matters with us immediately in order for us to address her issues while she stayed at the Emerald, instead of waiting for two weeks after her stay and stating her disagreeable views on this public site.

This was perfect for our family of 6 & dog. It's difficult to find places where we all fit without having to book multiple rooms & get a pet sitter. The Emerald House was amazing! The boys loved The Writers Cottage. I hooked up the old turntable system & they loved listening to all the classic vinyl. The girls loved the fireplace & great collection of VHS & DVDs. We highly recommend Bruce's place!

We had a great stay. We have three people and the house is spacious and comfortable. The wine and bread was very welcoming. Bruce's handbook provided useful information of the region. The Split rock fall is band very close to the house. We enjoyed our stay.

Bruce was a great host and home was spacious with everything we needed. Your family can really spread out and relax in this setting. The area is beautiful with plenty of hiking nearby. Please note that you cannot wear shoes in the house, which is stated in the listing. This was a minor inconvenience, but might be a issue if you have foot problems, since the floors are hardwood. The house is like a living museum full of interesting furniture and memorabilia.

This was a great place to escape the grind of the city. The family had a great time in such a beautiful, peaceful setting. The river close by has such a calming affect on you. Everything was convenient if one needed anything in town. The Halfway House food as Bruce mentions was indeed delicious, the proprietors are extremely friendly, and the kids loved the "all free" game room. We truly fell in love with the beautiful Adirondack Mountain region. We shall never forget our time spent at the Emerald

Loved the house, very spacious. We cooked some nights. Bruce has a DVD and VHS collection like you wouldn't believe lol. NIce quiet area, the backyard was beautiful. As Bruce described, its about a 40 min from Lake Placid. But, there are tons of hiking trails around the house. We hiked Cascade Mountain with our dogs and it took us about 20 minutes to get there. Lots of outdoor activities in the area. Was a really fun trip.

My love of nature started very early with family camping trips. The forest enthralled me and I became an Eagle Scout in order to learn how to appreciate the wilderness to the fullest. The Adirondack Emerald House Camp is a nature lovers dream come true where one can commune with the forest and enjoy the pure Bouquet River on a personal and deeply private setting.
