A unique, secluded, rustic cabin nestled on 10 acres of Ponderosa pine forest. Enjoy morning coffee on the sunny, spacious deck, afternoon picnics by the creek, a cozy wood fire in the evening and a sky full of stars at night. Only 12 minutes from great food and cafes in Spearfish; 20 minutes to Deadwood.
This is not your typical modern vacation home. The naturally weathered cabin was hand built in the 1970's using locally harvested rough lumber, homemade windows and one-of-a-kind walnut flooring. The main house has all the comforts of home. Sleeps 6 with an upstairs loft with queen bed plus a downstairs open-plan TV room/bedroom with a queen bed and futon. Larger groups who need more space and/or more privacy can also rent the “bunkhouse,” a small second cabin with a queen-size futon bed downstairs and bunk bed upstairs (try 10-person search for this option). The great room in the big house has a super well-equipped corner kitchen and large bay window for wide-angle views of the canyon. The cabin sits on a sunny, south-facing, wooded hillside at the end of a quarter-mile gravel driveway. There's not another house in sight, but you are very likely to see deer, turkey and other wildlife. Coyotes are often heard singing their wild, unforgettable song on the canyon ridge at night.

Otros aspectos destacables
Coyote Ridge Lodge is nestled in beautiful Maitland canyon which unfortunately interferes with internet wireless signals. So no wifi, but cell phone service is good in the cabin (we have a signal booster). There is a land-line phone and cable TV. Several coffee shops in town offer fast, free wireless connections.
The seasonal creek usually (not always) dries up sometime in July.
Guests are expected to enjoy and care for the cabin as if it were their own.
No smoking. Low-impact pets may be permitted (contact owner).

I'm a college professor (study mass media) at the University of Wisconsin. Love outdoor sports. Built Coyote Ridge Lodge in the 1970s when I lived in Spearfish for 6 years (I taught journalism at Black Hills State). Have spent about 7 years of my life living and traveling overseas, mainly in SEAsia and Europe. Have three great kids, a dog and cat.
