In the heart of Hokitika. 1min to the beach and river. 5mins walk to bars, restaurants and shops. A historic little cottage full of character and charm. A typical Kiwi bach - not modern, not fancy but definitely interesting! Free fast wifi.
1 min walk to the stunning beach. 2mins to the river and Sunset Point. 5mins to all bars, museum, theater, restaurants and shops. The perfect spot to holiday beside the beach and still be right in the heart of town.
Our cottage is nearly 100 years old. It's a traditional New Zealand wooden bungalow.
This is NOT a shiny new, modern house. It does have fast Broadband! If you don't enjoy the character of old houses then this won't be the right place for you. If you are overly fussy and fancy, it may not be a good fit but if you want a traditional Kiwi cottage by the sea where beach walks and sunsets are valued, this could be just what you are looking for.
NOTE: The house can sleep 9 comfortably but there is only 1 bathroom.
**You will not be charged the security deposit unless there is damage caused**

This is an old house. It has it's quirks but it is clean and has been freshly decorated. Please don't expect a modern/new house. The kitchen is small and original so there is no space for a dishwasher. You will have to wash dishes the old fashioned way- in the sink!
Not all of the windows are meant to open.
In winter you will need to know how to use a woodburner fire.
Please inform me of your arrival time 2 days before. e.g 6.30-7pm or whenever (after 3pm). I'd love to meet you!
All guests must be included in the booking. No others are permitted. Children are charged the same as adults.
No shoes inside.
Please don't take bath towels to the beach.
Please wash & dry all dishes & tidy the kitchen. I will prepare the house for the next guests but please leave the house as you found it. Excess mess will result in a claim on the security deposit for extra cleaning.
Turn off electric blankets when you are not in bed.
No need to strip the beds. I will do that for you.
Please do not remove anything from the property that does not belong to you.
Lock all doors and close windows when you leave.
Leave the keys in the lock box or on the table in the hall. Loss of key will result in a charge.
Turn off all heating and electric blankets. 关闭所有加热器和电热毯.
In winter you will need to know how to use a woodburner to warm the house.

We try to offer a friendly and warm space that is quite different from a hotel experience. We want guests to feel comfortable and at home in the spaces we have set up. Our listings really appeal to folks who love character homes, enjoy art on the walls and vintage/retro furniture.
We have lived in Hokitika for the past 12 years. We enjoy good music and good food.
We have both traveled extensively.
We absolutely love living here in Hokitika. It has a wonderful community - we are a really eclectic bunch. The scenery is wild and stunning and the history is fascinating.
I'm busy running our farm as well as working. My husband works for an IT company from home (unfortunately he is very busy with his job, so you probably won't meet him). We look forward to meeting our guests and are always happy to help you plan activities here on the West Coast - rain or shine - it is a fantastic place to be.
