It started with the great e-mail dialogue months before we got there, Albert is a very funny and warm guy - we had no doubt this was going to be a great experience and we were not disappointed in the least. Albert and his wife were there to great us with roses on the table and stroopwaffe ls - those tasty Dutch syrup wafflets! And it got better from there - first the location is AWESOME, close to everything - shopping, sites, train station, tram within less than 10 minute walk. And then he gives us bikes to use, hadn't even thot of that - saved us $$!! And then the place - so neat, clean, and modern despite being 500 years old - there are still wooden dowels in the roof ridge board - okay, that's my inner civil engineer speaking - but hey this place is impressive. It was all we hoped for and so much more. Thank you Albert for such a great stay, we know this was only a 2016 summer thing while you are away, but do hope we can come visit and say hi next year when we are back - tot ziens! Dank je wel!
We had a wonderful stay at Albert’s cosy canal house. The house is sweet, comfortable, and full of character (though, the spiral staircase may not be for everyone). We especially loved all the exposed wood on the second floor and the quaint backyard patio filled with flowers and grapevines. There is a TV, but we didn’t end up watching it - people watching through the giant windows at the front of the house was so much more entertaining. Bicycle riders galore! The location is great, too. Everything was a walk or tram or train ride away. We had a great time exploring Delft and the surrounding areas, but coming "home" was always a highlight. Now to plan a future visit - we already miss the house and the neighbors!
