A lovely double room in a 4th floor 2-bedroom apartment in a quiet residential street in East London. 7-minute walk from the town centre shops and station. People might think that Barking is way out of the city but surprisingly it's only 14 minutes on the C2C to Fenchurch Street/Tower Hill - great for visitors to London. 35 mins by tube to ExCel London.10 min walk for doctors studying PLAB2 course at Common Stations. A great place to stay if you want peace and tranquility.

El alojamiento
Hi my name is Carole. I moved into my newly built 2-bedroom apartment in September 2015 and I love it. It's light, airy and uncluttered with simple and tasteful decor and art - making it a comfortable and ideal place to retreat and relax from a busy day in the city. Situated on the 4th floor it has easy lift access and private entrance with only 4 other apartments on the floor.

The guest room is a good sized double bedroom with a 4'6 comfortable double bed, two beside tables with lamps, clothes rail, desk and hanging shelves. I like to make my guests feel that they are 'home-from-home' so as well as towels I give you a little guest welcome basket full of goodies - i.e.; soap, shower-gel, toothpaste and toothbrush - (in case you forget yours!) And there are always two freshly laundered dressing gowns for your use.

The apartment has BT WIFI and TV. Guests will be able to use my fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, oven, hob, kettle, toaster, microwave, blender, slow cooker and all utensils and cutlery.
There is a cabinet space for you to put your food etc and room in the fridge. The apartment has one bathroom with bath and shower shared with me. The living room has two very comfortable lazy-boy sofas, lovely beech dining table with six chairs.

*Please note - I take reservations of a maximum of one month - if you would like to reserve longer please send me a direct message to discuss options

Acceso para huéspedes
This option is for a private room for up to two people with use of the kitchen, living room and bathroom. I have a foldaway bed which fits into the bedroom easily. You are welcome to as much complementary tea and coffee as you like during your stay. An additionaI charge of £5 per person is payable for a continental breakfast, including croissants, cereals, jam, toast, juice. I have a Gaggia Expresso machine for you to make fabulous coffee! And from time to time if you need a meal I can make one for you if I am around at an extra charge.
Guest check-in is from 3pm on day of arrival and check-out by 11am

Otros aspectos destacables
Parking: There is restricted parking from 8.30am-5.30pm Monday - Saturday on the road outside - you can park for an hour with no return in 2 hours. In practice this means that you can park until 9.30am. There are no restrictions after 5.30 on weekdays and Saturdays, and none on Sundays. There are unrestricted parking spaces 2 mins away on roads close by.
Guests are welcome to use the kitchen and living/dining room. I make fridge and cupboard space available and you are welcome to use the washing machine. You will need to purchase your own washing powder. I provide clean linen and towels weekly but you are always welcome to use clean towels from the bathroom.
From time to time my partner stays over. I am often away on Sunday nights visiting my mother.

Barking, Inglaterra, Reino Unido

My apartment is right at the heart of Barking - a 7-minute walk to the town centre. Barking is a fast developing area with a young population. It has had quite a poor reputation historically as one of the poorer London Boroughs. However over the past ten years the borough has seen huge transformation and is viewed as an up and coming area and one of the last boroughs in London with affordable property. Lots of the smart young money is investing here.
Barking has it's regular daily market (apart from Weds) , theatre and brand new leisure centre with pool, spa and gym.

There is no shortage of large supermarkets with smaller shops and restaurants that reflect this ethnically diverse London community. Beckon Retail Park is five minutes drive from the centre of Barking, and here you'll find the multi-screen cinema complex.

Barking Park is 2 minutes walk from my apartment. The 12th Century Abbey Ruins and surrounding green have an interesting history and are home to the annual outdoor Folk Festival. The River Roding passes through the town and a whole new cultural area is developing here with artists studios, which is where I work. The history of the river and its fishing industry goes back to the 11th century.

My apartment is 15 minutes by underground to the Olympic Park in Stratford which offers a great programme of activities for the whole family. Stratford is also home to The famous Theatre Royal which has a great programme of music, dance and theatre. The large Westfield Shopping Centre is also in Stratford with almost any shop you can think of and restaurants with a wide range of cuisines.

* My apartment is conveniently located a ten minute walk away from Common Stations - Plab 2 Medical training venue in Ripple road.

I am an easy going person and I love to welcome people to my home, and sharing local knowledge, as well as my love for London. I am a writer and have worked as a theatre maker for over 30 years. I am Artistic Director of an arts venue - The Boathouse in Barking next to the river. I moved into my apartment in September 2015 and it's my little haven. I have two grown up daughters, one of who recently got married. I love travelling and have a big wanderlust - went backpacking in Chile with my partner which was a great adventure. Made me feel young again! I'm an avid reader and love music. My flat is full of books and art. I enjoy theatre, concerts, films and galleries and am still finding and exploring new places in London! I also enjoy an evening at home with a movie and a good bottle of red every so often. I love to meet new people and welcome them to my home and as a host I am mindful of people's privacy, whilst offering a home from home experience which is different from staying in a hotel. I have had some wonderful guests from all over the world and love to hear about where they come from!

Durante tu estancia
I know London well having worked here for over 30 years and can advise on great places to visit, eat, go to a show etc; I am a sociable person, and have hosted many people over the years. I love meeting new people, but also know how to give people their space! I have a pretty irregular timetable but will let you know when I will be around. When I'm not about you'll be able to get in touch with me, although you might have to wait a bit depending on what I'm doing and where I am, but I will always text or call you as soon as I can.
