Santuario de loros en Hawái
Every parrot has a story. You’ll learn all about our rainbow-colored rescues in Kona’s only parrot sanctuary.
We’ll start with our mission: to give every displaced parrot a nutritious diet, large space to fly, and a safe place to interact with other parrots (and people).
Next, we'll take a walk around the sanctuary, where you can get to know the range of personalities of cockatoos, lovebirds, macaws, and more species.
Throughout the tour, you will have many photo opportunities, especially with our well-trained parrots.
Other things to note:
Wear casual clothes, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, and bring a camera. Parrots in Paradise Sanctuary is also home to two rescue dogs, two Holstein cows and two sulcata tortoise.
While we like to keep our group sizes small to enhance a personal experience, we are open to hosting larger family/friend groups with more than six individuals.
Ruta por una plantación de café, cacao y vainilla
Aloha and Welcome as we gather around the information table at Sharkey's 100-year old farmhouse in the historic plantation village of Papaikou. Sample our freshly brewed 100% Hawaiian coffee or cacao tea, grown right here on the farm. From there we begin an easy walk through our orchards where you'll learn about Hawaiian coffee growth and production. Interwoven the coffee are rows of cacao trees. Depending on the time of year, you can usually see tiny flowers and large, multi-colored pods hanging from trunks and branches. Long, heavy vanilla vines grow up the cacao trees, nature's perfect trellis! We'll show you how each vanilla orchid is delicately hand-pollinated to produce long "hands" of vanilla beans. We'll then proceed to the "Slab" where the pods are 'cracked' before the fermentation process. Next we move into the greenhouse where flats of newly planted seedlings just beginning their journey grow alongside large screens filled with coffee and cacao beans slowly drying to perfection. Finally we'll move into our certified Chocolate Kitchen where the Magic happens! Who wants a taste? Free samples!

Senderismo por el arroyo de la cascada Warriors
Hidden rainbow ridden waterfalls and fresh water pools in jungly stream.
Starting our adventure off at pavements end. A short walk or 4wd road leads to my homestead where I'll meet you at the gate with a warm welcome. Citrus orchard is first if you'd enjoy a snack and like to pick seasonal fruit as souvenirs before heading down to our privately accessible stream for a fun swim in big beautiful freshwater pools where waterfalls and good times abound.
It takes about 5 min to make it down to Haakoa Stream that lives up to its name meaning “low warrior”. Thought it is a short descent the nature of the trail is akin to the old Hawaiian saying - "Hāmākua i ke ala ʻūlili : Hāmākua of the steep trails." Be prepared - This is in nature and wild areas. As another saying goes - "Hāmākua i ka wakawaka.- Irregular and rough Hāmākua.” :) Praise of Hāmākua, a district of gulches and valleys.
They're 3-4 pools. I consider getting to them; easy to medium. I will guide you along the most reliable routes and help you find footing as we trek along the stream-bed (be ready to do some rock scrambling). This experience is best for fit people that KNOW HOW TO SWIM any age can enjoy & become a Waterfall Warrior.
It is suppose to be a fun & empowering geared towards affordable and fun times for those of you who are keen on taking a swimming under a waterfall la viva local nature trails.

Atardecer en lagunas geotérmicas
We start by driving along one of the prettiest coastal roads on the island, close to the ocean and lava cliffs, near tidepools & spots with breathtaking ocean views that often include rainbows!
We begin at a beautiful, lava cliff where I give various information about the island, share mo’olelo (stories) & tell about different endemic plants we will come across!
Then we mosey on down to the newest black sand beach, created from the 2018 flow and swim in three different geothermal ponds, including one hard to find, picturesque pond in the jungle that will not disappoint! I provide rafts for floating in these healing, saline and mineral waters, but you can swim or soak if you prefer as well! These are the ONLY geothermal ponds on ANY of the Hawaiian islands. There is no lava flow to view here, the ponds are heated by the magma underground making natural hot tubs! The springs range from about 99-105 degrees depending on the time of day.
Please note, this tour used to be a sunrise tour but now it is held in the afternoon. Everything is the same except the time. We will start at the lava cliffs and end at the hot ponds around sunset (which of course varies depending on the time of year).
I can customize any tour and add dates that are not on the calendar if schedule permits.
I offer hiking tours, snorkeling, sunrise/sunset tours, lava viewing, custom proposal tours & more!
