For this guided eco kayaking adventure we will meet at a public launch site just North of Fort De Soto State Park. In order to provide a great experience for our guests, we focus exclusively on small groups & private tours. We will provide all the necessary equipment, dry bags, and instruction before heading out. We use stable sit-inside kayaks which are more comfortable and easier to paddle than sit-on-top & clear kayaks. This allows us to explore more of the preserve at an easier pace and provides better wildlife viewing opportunities. Once we depart, we'll explore the various ecosystems of the Shell Key Preserve highlighting the beauty of this coastal habitat. We'll kayak through mangrove tunnels (tides permitting), over shallow seagrass meadows, and look for wildlife along the way. Once we reach Shell Island you will have time to swim, explore, look for shells, or just relax and enjoy the beauty of this uninhabited barrier island. The preserve is home to a variety of shorebirds, nesting sea turtles, dolphins, manatees and much more. It is a great way to get out and see the natural side of St Pete.

*Things to note*
We mainly use double kayaks (you won't be paired with a stranger) kids 3 and up are welcome. Kids under 13 must be in a double kayak with an adult or older child. Weight Limit 250lbs pp | 450lbs combined for doubles. *No alcohol is allowed in the preserve.

Dónde estarás

The Shell Key Preserve is an 1800 acre nature preserve at the mouth of Tampa Bay. It protects sensitive marine habitats and includes the county's largest undeveloped barrier island. Its' beaches provide important nesting grounds for sea turtles and it is designated as one of Florida's most important nesting and wintering areas for shorebirds.

Brian, our guide, was cheerful, caring, and extremely knowledgeable about the geographic region as well as the ecosystem. His technique in setting us up in the water was very professional yet set a comfortable tone to help rookies feel safe. Brian gave impeccable instructions before each new turn in the tour. Everything from taking photos, offering some filtered water, setting up each kayak when we landed on shell cove , and sharing interesting information about the sea life . His corny sense of humor set a relaxing tone. Thank You.

This was our first time kayaking and we were given clear instructions. The locations were amazing and the energy was great. We were caught in a bit of a storm but made it through. It just makes for a better story to tell friends. I highly recommend this!
