My nighttime walking tour of Fremont is a 2-hour trek along the most famous Neon Street of all time - with complimentary cocktails at two historic Downtown bars. We start with drinks at the Parlour Bar of the El Cortez of Bugsy Siegel fame; it's the 1940's era even before the Rat Pack came on the scene. Once on Fremont Street, we'll drop by the Container Park, a unique arts & commercial complex that sets the tone of this new neighborhood with a decidedly cool vibe. We'll check out the iconic Praying Mantis fire sculpture from Burning Man and then trek through the Bar Town block with its array of murals and locally owned bars. From here, it's on to Glitter Gulch and the historic casinos that showcase the last great spectacular neon signs of Las Vegas. Fremont is an electric carnival, a pedestrian plaza where everything performs including the giant overhead video canopy, the flare bartenders, ziplining tourists and zany street Buskers. You'll hear some intriguing tales about Las Vegas and its mythic characters, and we'll go to some of my favorite spots, somewhat unknown and off the beaten track. But the Main Show is the glorious neon, a dazzling street unique in America. We end with a cocktail at a cozy bar owned by our most famous Mayor, for whom I once worked, with a toast to the Bright Light City that Elvis once sang about and to friendship all around. Viva Las Vegas!
I have a story to tell about Downtown - and its about spectacular neon, local history & lore and some of the mythic ideas that made Las Vegas. I'm an artist and a cultural planner by profession. For over a decade, I was the Urban Arts Coordinator for the city and had the cool job of running the Neon Boneyard when it first opened. Now I have a small- group walking tour company - offering an evening stroll down Fremont Street to experience the worlds most beautiful neon signs- stopping along the way at some historic bars. I'm originally from Santa Fe, and came here for a job I couldn't refuse. I fell in love with this enigmatic city - a city of dreams and conflicting realities - a place that always offers adventure and a good story or two.

Fremont is our Neon Broadway. At nighttime the worlds most amazing signs flicker on and the place becomes a magical streetscape put together with lights, architecture and zany street performers. My 2 hour tour is built around the spectacle of neon but Fremont Street offers so much more, and once you take it all in, you will have a better understanding of what makes this city unique and ever endearing to locals and to visitors.

I have a basic tour itinerary but because Fremont is always performing, the tour can change a bit depending on what is happening. But it's always fun, full of spectacle, with lots of local insights.
